Chapter 12: Gard the Blob
Part 1
So they really came. The demons. But the preparations were so fast? Still, it would be a bad idea if a fight broke out now...Rose had just been rid of the poison, yes, but she was still weak, and the only ones able to fight the demons were Angela, Gerard and me. Of course I would rather run away and retreat for now, so I asked Angela.
"Angela, can you or Gerard use teleportation magic?" I asked.
"I know what you're thinking, but it's not possible to teleport us, since, my magic is more offensive than anything else. And Gerard here can't use any magic." Angela said.
The four of us went to the roof of the building we were at, and Rose seem to get stronger for every step we took. Gerard said he added something into the antidote which could recover energy quickly, although not completely. We stuffed some food and water into our mouth to provide ourselves with some energy later for the fight. When we reached the rooftop, I took a deep breath. Ah...fresh air again! The sky was getting dark, and it might made me at a disadvantage since I could not see properly. And I presume demons could see in the dark. since they were...well, demons.
"My my, so many couples here. I'm jealous." A voice said from behind. The same hissing voice that irritated me.
I turned around to see Ceture in an army uniform, smirking.
Immediately everybody made a battle stance, even Rose, as we drew our weapons.
"Where's your comrades? I know you're not the only one." Gerard said as he wielded two daggers in his hands.
"Oh, you're observant, angel-san," Ceture replied, and after a slight pause, continued," They're here."
The floor started cracking, and a column of black beam shot out, forcing us to separate from each other. Sneaking on us like that! More importantly, how come Ceture turned Japanese? That was an insult to the manga collection I had at home!
When the attack stopped, I saw the remaining demons. There was the black blob we fought! So it was not dead! The other one was covered in a cloak and a hood, but I could feel an ominous aura from it.
"Let's start the massacre." Ceture announced as he spread his hands out.
The blob shot itself at Angela, who, like me, was by herself. I tried to help her, but Ceture summoned two hounds and sent them at me. The hooded demon went for Rose, who was, luckily, with Gerard.
"I'll take back that dagger from you this time!" The demon cried out in an unnatural voice with the grinding of bones. That was one weird demon. It sounded as if it was all bones.
I shifted my focus back to the hounds, and punched them from their belly, concentrating the brace's power on my fist, as they tried to pounce on me, sending them flying and disappearing midair.
"Not bad, you've gotten stronger since the last time I saw you," Ceture said. "But I've attained a new power too. The brace will be mine this time."
"You demons only care about weapons, huh. Are your demon bodies so weak you need the help of weapons?" I asked sarcastically.
Ceture's eyebrow twitched, but he let out on a smooth smile with his rows of sharp teeth showing.
"Gard is just getting some kills. His jelly body is strong enough." Ceture hissed as he jerked his thumb in the direction of the blob fighting with Angela.
So the blob was called Gard. The ass-less blob. Angela spread her wings and her halo appeared above her head. With a flap of her wings, Angela flew away, daring the blob to chase her. And chase he did, by shooting itself after Angela, a streak of black in the vermillion sky. Soon, they disappeared out of view, and I suddenly remembered I was supposed to be fighting Ceture.
