Chapter 5: Revelation

Part 1

"This is the first time you fainted in front of Rose! And the second time you fainted in front of Angela! You can do better than this!" I scolded myself.

I had just woken up to realise that I was in the infirmary of my school. And before I could actually check the clock for the time, I recounted what happened and I started counting the times I had fainted in front of girls. Not exactly the first thing you do when you wake up to find yourself wrapped in bandages, but you could call it a blow to a man's ego. Or maybe it was just me.

"Can do better than what?"

I jumped upon hearing the voice of a girl, and suddenly Angela's face popped out from the curtains drawn around me.

"Woa! Can't you knock on the door before entering or something?" I said, trying to calm myself down from the sudden surprise.

"My bad, but Ms Shene doesn't seem to be here. I think she left for lunch. So much for being a teacher by leaving an injured student all by himself," Angela said sarcastically.

Ms Shene was the school nurse, or doctor, or whatever you name the teacher who always remains in the infirmary.

"Are you even allowed to come here? You've still got lessons, right?" I asked, trying not to wince as I sat up in the bed.

Angela came over and pulled a seat while putting my bag beside the bed.

"It' three now. School's over already." Angela explained. "Here's your bag."

"What?! School's over! But doesn't that mean I've slept for like four hours??" I demanded.

"So you just woke up? If you did, that's around four and a half hours." Angela joked.

"It's not funny! I missed so many lessons..." I sobbed.

"Well, I've taken notes for you, so no worries. I can even teach you if yoy want. That's what you get for falling down the stairs." Angela said.

"Wait a minute. Falling down the stairs? I didn't----" I stopped mid-sentence when I realised what Angela meant.

"Oh, I see. But that's a pretty lame excuse," I commented. Angela and Rose could not have told the teachers the exact events that occured, but they had to come up with a reason I was unconscious.

Angela shrugged. "That's from Rose. I'm not exactly supposed to lie."

"And the teachers bought it?" I asked.

"Well, most of them did, except for Miss Shene. She said the injuries were not exactly possible to occur if you fell. So I had no choice but to use my angel charm on her." Angela admitted.

"That's how you managed to keep the class quiet this morning?" I asked, and Angela nodded.

I was about to get up, but then I realised my legs were still weak, so I sat back down on my bed instead.

"It's going to take time for the blood to flow back to your legs again. By the way, if you're asking for Rose, she's helping the teacher to carry the books. She'll join us shortly."

"Now back to the main point." Angela continued, " I'm here to explain to you about your brace. I can do it later, but who knows when you will get a demon assault again."

"Okay. I'm all ears." I nodded.

"Let's start with Slaying weapons. When an angel is born, she will have a weapon residing inside her. It is prepared for the human that created her, in case he encounter demon assaults and need to train to be a Slayer. The angel will get her own weapon from the blacksmith in Heaven, Mr. Wesha. An old pervert, but that's not the main point.
