Chapter 10: Trapped in a field
Part 1
"This smells too fishy, really." Angela commented.
"But what choice do we have? We can only press on." Rose said.
All was too peaceful, and I had to say, it was getting spooky. But I figured even if we were to worry about it, it would not do us any good. The others probably felt the same way, and after looking at their determined faces, we decided to face what was coming our way.
We crossed the plains at a smooth pace, keeping a look out for suspicious movements, but so far...nothing. Still, we did not let our guards down. Who knew what the demons could do. However, after around two hours of non-stop walking, and the grass was getting longer and overgrown, with more and more rock formations, we decided to take a break. It was noon, and the afternoon sun was a red ball of gas threatening to scorch the land till it was crisp. It was a wonder how the grass did not catch fire when the four of us were drenched in our own perspiration.
"Ah...we really should take a break...I'm getting a heatstroke..." Angela complained weakly.
We were walking up a hill which ended with a cliff right in the middle of the grass plains, which was weird, well, since there were no natural elements that could have done this. I climbed down the cliff and halfway through, I realised it actually had a cave beneath the slope. How was this even possible?
I hopped down onto the soft grass and called upwards. well, the hill was around one storey high, so it was not really that tall.
"Hey! There's a cave here! We can rest inside for the time being!" I called out.
"Finally, a place to rest!" Angela groaned. She and Gerard spread their wings, while Gerard carried Rose bridal style down.
I had to admit, I was jealous. God, it would have been better if this handsome guy was not here. I would be able to spend more time with two bishoujos myself----stop thinking like that! The heat is getting into your brain! I yelled at myself, slapping my sweaty cheeks to clear my mind. I'd better seek shelter from the killer star.
When I entered the cave, the heat dissipated instantly, a cool atmosphere taking its place instead. The grass stopped growing abruptly at the entrance, and it was just rocks under our feet as we went further into the cave.
The end of the cave was quite close to the entrance, just around five meters. Angela heaved a sigh of relief when she sat down, and we started to unpack our food.
"Ah, its so cool in here. Hmmm~" Rose said as she stretched her arms. She had removed her jacket and tied it around her waist, and her perspiration caused her tank top to be translucent, and I could see the outline of her bra...
"Hey, where are looking at, you perv?" Angela snapped at me.
I blinked, and after realising what Angela was implying, looked away. I had just sub-consciously stared at Rose's chest.
"Hmm? Where was he looking?" Rose asked innocently. Of all people, Rose, just keep your mouth close this time!!
"Oh? You want to know? He was looking here."
"Kyaa! Where are you touching, Angela?" Rose exclaimed. She then fought back, and the two girls had a wrestling match filled with giggles and shrieks.
I was looking away, so I did not see where Angela was touching, or should I say, I was too embarrassed to watch.
"So, how many times have you used your weapon?" Gerard asked as he took a bite from the sandwich he brought along, ignoring the commotion the girls were causing something I was grateful for.
