Chapter 9: Towards the grass plains!

Part 1

It had been a week since I visited Rose's house. I had to say, the dinner whipped up by Chef Rose was sumptous, and she was a better cook then me. After that, I resumed training with Angela at a park in my neighbourhood, sometimes earning stares from other people, but who cares? I was just trying to get better. There was this time when we trained till late in the night, and when we were taking a break there was this group of gangsters that thought we were a couple, and well, seeing how cute Angela was and how weak I was by myself, decided to hit on her. Bad choice, really. I would cut it short. Yes, I kicked their butt. All six of them. It was all thanks to Angela's training, though, I must admit.

Gerard stayed at Rose's house like Angela did, but he used his angel charm to convinced Rose's parents. Sort of like demons using their devil's whisper. Something that could make humans submit to them, basically. But apparently angels only used it to help themselves and their Slayers to prevent too much attention, with permission of the higher ups, of course.

It was Friday night, and Angela and I were currently heading over to Rose's house, at the pretext that we were going there to play, and to plan a short trip, when we were actually going to discuss about the journey tomorrow. The journey to the Demon Lair closest to our town: The Town of Awakening. Gerard managed to persuade Rose's parents to let us go. We could not wait any further; any longer and Rose's condition might just get worst.

"Ah, the night sky looks beautiful," Angela breathed.

I looked up, and saw the thousands of stars blinking in the dark sky. It was only around eight, but the stars were already flashing brilliantly in contrast to the dark sky. I had this feeling that it was too unusual.

And my premonition turned out to be true. As Angela and I took a turn down the street to a more deserted part, I felt a chill run down my spine. Angela must have felt it too, because she stopped walking and her hand went to her hips, where a belt with a sword and its scabboard materialised. I instinctively activated my Demon Brace.

The space in front of us started to distort and crack, and after a few seconds of disgusting cracking sounds, a swirl of darkness appeared from the crack. I saw a figure move from within, and at this moment I felt it. A familiar aura emitting from the figure.

He stepped out, with slings of darkness coming off him, like he had just came out from a shadow.

"Long time no see, Angela, Raymond. hope you haven't forgotten me." The hissing voice was all too familiar. How could I have forgotten him? He was the one that turned my life upside down!

Ceture!

"Ceture! What business do you have here?" Angela raised her voice, her sword posed.

"Woa, chill, man. I'm not here to attack you guys, I just wanted to warn you." Ceture said hurriedly, raising his hands in front of him in surrender. It was hard to believe, but I really did not sense any hostility from him. His aura felt denser, more powerful, then the last time I met him. It seems that he had powered up. Well, I had, too.

"What warning?" Angela snapped.

"The Town of Awakening. I'll be sending my demons there. There's no way we would let you cure that girl so easily when she was supposed to be killed." Ceture smirked.

"What...? How did you know? Don't tell me you were the mastermind behind this!" It was my turn to get angry.

Chasing after me was not enough, and he had to go for Rose too!

"Well, it was my subordinate's idea. But I didn't object, because that girl was special. In a way even we demons do not know. But my subordinate, Gard the blob, could feel it, and he's accurate most of the time." Ceture explained.
