Procrastination (Alec does that)
"So when does that report Mayrse asked for need to be in?" Magnus asked. He. Was. Always. Punctual.
Alec yawned. "Doesn't have a date. I'll do it tomorrow." He. Was. Not.
(A/N: whaaaaat did I just do why)
Magnus rolled his eyes, but snuggled next to his boyfriend on the green sheets of the bed.
"Do it tomorrow. Then it'll be off your mind and we can do something fun." He bumped Alec's shoulder with his head.
"It's not on my mind ever really." Alec said, yawning again.
Magnus yawned. "Stop that. And it probably is, just subconciously. If you want I could do a spell that-"
"Nah, y'alright."
The warlock sniffed. "Nothing wrong with my spells."
"The last time you did one when I was around, Chairman Meow developed weird abilities." Alec said.
"Not on purpose."
Alec smiled. "Precisely." He curled into Magnus and breathed in his sugar-and-sandalwood smell.
"You know we need to go Christmas shopping soon." Magnus mused. Alec mmmed. "If you write the report quickly we can do that."
Alec was drawing spirals on Magnus's abdomen. "Maybe."
Magnus shivered. "We can get coffee in this cute shop I know."
"Mmhmm."
"They do really good cakes."
"Mmhmm." Magnus glanced over and saw Alec was asleep, his hand splayed over the warlock's stomach.
In the morning, Alec was trying to distract Magnus from the topic of the report.
"Do you want scrambled eggs?" He asked.
Magnus didn't look up from his book. "Report."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"Report."
"Did you want to go into town today because I need to get a few presents."
"Shopping?" Magnus looked up. "You're agreeing to go shopping with me?"
Alec chewed on his lip. "Only present shopping." And evil grin slid onto Magnus's face. "Um, shall we go in an hour?"
"Just enough time for you to do that report, darling." Magnus said, starting the scrambled eggs Alec had handed to him.
"UGGGGHHHH."
Magnus sighed. "It has to be done, and then you can forget about it."
"To be honest my dear, I don't give a flying flip about it." Alec said, pouting.
"Did you do the report?" Magnus asked an hour later, bounding into the living room in silver skinny jeans, an oversized purple jumper and multiple black necklaces.
Alec looked up. "Uh, yes." He lied.
"Yay!" The warlock cheered. "Shopping time!" He dragged his boyfriend the entire half-hour walk to the mall. "Where shall we start?" He said, staring in reverence at the multiple shops. Alec looked uncomfortable.
"Uh, Izzy wanted a new pair of shoes, but I don't kn-"
"THIS WAY!" Magnus cried, pulling Alec towards a shop.
As Alec looked over the shoes his boyfriend had picked out for Izzy, Magnus pulled out his phone and took a sneaky snapchat of himself looking shocked and Alec in the background. To make it doubly-clear what he was surprised about, he circled Alec in red and captioned the picture "I am a miracle-worker" before sending it to Izzy and Jace. (And a few other people, but he wouldn't tell Alec that.)
The replied were instantaneous, Izzy replied with her and Simon 'fainting' and Clary sent a video of Mayrse looking at Jace's phone and saying "Is that Alec? In a shoe shop? Looking at shoes?" Magnus sent a few more pictures of the miracle to Alec's siblings, and laughed to himself when they got screen-shotted.
Alec walked over with a bag in one hand. "Okay, so Jace, my mom and dad, and Clary? Do I need to get Simon one?"
"Probably," Magnus said, taking a picture of Alec holding the shopping bag.
Alec sighed. "Are you snapchatting again?"
"No. I was documenting this momentous occasion." Magnus lied.
"Oh come on," Alec said. "I do shop. I buy people presents. I just don't enjoy it."
*FLASH FORWARD TO CHRISTMAS DAY*
On Christmas Day, Mayrse and Robert went on a walk in the afternoon, saying that if they really wanted, Jace, Izzy and Alec could go over to the warlock's flat where Clary and Simon would meet them. (They would come over to the Institute, but there was the awkward matter of Simon and Magnus not being able to come in.)
So they ended up sitting on various red and green couches around the living room handing gifts to each other. (The Lightwoods had decided to save their gifts so that they could do it together.)
Jace opened his from Alec first. "A new leather jacket! Yes! The last one is wearing down so much!" He did a happy dance.
Clary went next. "A stele! Thank you Alec!" She smiled shyly at him.
"OH. MY. GOODNESS." Izzy crowed. She pulled a pair of metallic heels from her box. "How did you know?"
Simon's gift was a few comics, which although quite lame, was enough for him seeing as the two boys weren't that close.
Magnus opened his present last when it was just them, the others gone home.
"I... Alec, this is... Unbelievable. Amazing." Inside the wrapping paper was a scarf, green with gold threads running through it, gold beads at the end. There were two tickets for a play on top of that.
"They're to make up for the opera we never saw in Austria because I know you were annoyed about that. And I just saw the scarf and it reminded me of your eyes." Alec blushed.
Magnus tackled Alec with a huge hug. "Thank you thank you thank you so much." He said. "And you're coming with me to the show."
"If you insist." Alec smiled.
Magnus looked up. "I love you." He said, the scarf now wrapped around his neck.
"I love you too."
-
Short, but sweetish.
Okay, I just wanted to say that because Christmas is soon, the next chapter probably won't be up until after Christmas because I'll be doing stuff with my family and friends, and that's why this one is Christmassy!
Thank you so much for sticking with this story! :)
