There was a sudden knock on the front door and so I stood up from my lazy rest on the couch, dragging one foot after another towards the distant sound. I slowly opened it to find my mum standing on the other side. She pulled me in for a warm, friendly hug. I felt guilt in it though, not love.
“Carly, I have missed you so much!”From the look on her face I must not have seemed extremely ecstatic to see her. She looked down at her watch, and my eyes travelled there as well.
“It stopped,” she said after noticing my stare.
“Could have checked your phone,” I replied simply.
“What time is it?” she asked.
“11:50. You know what mum, it’s fine, I kind of thought that you’d want to see your daughter after six weeks, but...apparently not. I’m going to bed,” I turned on my heel, though she ran in front of me and blocked my path.
“Carly, I’m sorry! I got caught up at the office; I was working!” Yeah, like I believed that. “Come on, let’s do something together tomorrow,” she looked down as her phone beeped. After sighing, she added: “-Night.”
“What?” I huffed.
“Let’s do something tomorrow night,” she breathed. She knew what I was going to ask.
“Why not tomorrow day?”
She thought for a minute, then closed her eyes and rubbed her temple. “I have to go to work honey, look, I-”
“Save it, mum,” I said, pushing past her and heading up the stairs to my room. “I have plans anyway.”I slammed the door, wanting her to know how much she hurt me when she did this. Did she even care about me at all? Lifeless tears began to fall from my eyes, and I quickly rubbed them away. I didn’t even know if I had plans. Harry hadn’t texted me. I collapsed onto my bed and pulled the covers over me, wanting nothing more than to be cascaded by sleep. After One Direction had run out of my life - most probably forever - Kristen, Gabby and I had spent the afternoon in Nandos, chatting about our summers and showing each other the photographs we had taken with the boys. I had left them earlier than I expected; I'd just wanted to get home and unpack. I had waited up for my mum, expecting her to come home early, though it was pathetic for me to even think that. I just wanted to sleep now, and dream about Harry.
I was in that zone - you know the one were you are literally on the edge of sleep, hallelujah! - when a sudden buzzing woke me up. Argh. Go away! I sighed and reluctantly sat up, searching for my phone. I found it on my bedside table, the red light appearing every other second. Who wanted me at this time?Oh my God.
Had I taken my phone downstairs with me? Had I?
'No.'
I leapt out of bed and grabbed it. My heart suddenly skipped a beat when my eyes skimmed over the name: 'Harry'. Just Harry. No Styles. I clicked on his profile and concentrated on his pin – it had to be him; I didn’t recognize it from any of my friends, no one even knew that Kris, Gabby and I had met them yet. Returning back to the chat, I read over the messages that he had been sending me over the past two hours:
- Hiya Carly .x
- Carly, are you there? .x
- This is the right pin, isn’t it? .x
- Hellooooo? .x
- Okay, I’m going to give up now .x
- Maybe not. Seriously Carly, are you getting these? .x
- PING!!!Crap.
Double crap.
Oh my Lord! I started to reply straight away without even thinking about what I was typing. It probably wasn't the greatest idea.
- Harry, I am so sorry!! I left my phone in my room all night and I’ve only just checked it! I’m so sorry! ,xx
I bit my nail nervously and made a sigh of relief when I found that he was replying.
- Haha, it's alright - I thought you’d ignored me! That’s a relief though, are you okay? .xx'I thought you'd ignored me.'
Was he serious?! Who would ignore him?! He was absolutely adorable. And he actually seemed to like me. Right? Well, as a friend - obviously.
- Aw, I would never! Well, sort of, just had an argument with my mum ,xx
- Do you want to talk about it? .xx
- No Harry, its fine, but thank you. I think sleep is the best answer for me now, haha :') ,xx- Haha, alright :) we can talk about it tomorrow if you want, can you and your friends still come? .xx
Fab. I'd forgotten to bring that up. How on earth had that slipped my mind? I must have been too busy having far-fetched daydreams that were never, ever going to happen. I was pretty sure that Kristen and Gabby would cancel plans though if they found out what I had organised with Harry Styles. Harry Styles. I couldn't get used to that.
- If you're sure, then yes, we would love to, thank you! ,xx
- No problem! I’ll have one of our security pick you up, would you mind giving me your address so I can tell him? .xx
My address. I had to check that it actually was Harry; it could be someone else. Some random pervert, which I certainly didn't want lurking around my house. No, thank you.
- Erm...can I ask you to prove you're Harry? I know I'm crazy; I passed that level years ago. I just don't want to give you my address until I know you're not a crazy stalker guy ,xx
I sent it without reading it over. Oh my god, I hadn't send that had I? Shit! Oh dear, he had read it and hadn't replied, no, no, no, damn, Carly! I released a huge sigh of relief when a new message appeared.
- Even though we only met today we both feel like...like we just know each other .xx
Okay. It was definitely him.
- 32 Trendheart Lane, Convent Garden, London. ,xx
- Great. I’ll see you at 1! Goodnight, Carly .xx
- Night Harry ,xx***
