“Night,” I called, heading up the stairs. I quickly closed the door behind me and ran over to my desk, picking up my laptop and switching it on. I STILL hadn’t been on twitter. What was wrong with me? And I hadn’t been on my phone either, apart from speaking to Harry. Pulling it out of my pocket, I found a caller ID on the screen for an incoming call – Kristen.
“Hello?”
“Finally!” she screamed.
“What? You’ve been trying to contact me?” I laughed. “Sorry! My phone was on silent, plus I’ve had a pretty hectic day,” I admitted.
“Hectic?!” she cried. “You don’t say?! I was out with my mum today and then all of a sudden I saw you on the paper...with Harry. And I’ve called you a million times, Car! Is it true?” she whispered the last sentence and I heard her hold her breath slightly. I hesitated before I told her, still slightly scared.
“...I...yeah, Kris, it’s-”
“-Shut up!” she screamed again. “How...when...why...just, oh my God!” she cried with glee. “Tell me everything!”
“Kris - its eleven O’clock and its Christmas tomorrow! Do you really want all the details now?” I laughed.
“Are you kidding? I’ve been waiting all day! We’ve all been trying to contact you, Gab and I especially,” she said. I sighed, feeling so guilty.
“I’m so sorry Kris,” I sighed. “I only checked my phone once and then I noticed Harry ringing me so I didn’t see your messages-”
“-He called you?!”
I laughed, sinking into the bed and logging onto my computer. “Should I explain?”
“Please!”
I started from the beginning. Well not the very beginning, the night my life changed. Because my life did feel different now, somehow. I know Harry and I had only been on one date and had only been a couple for a matter of days but somehow it felt...special. It felt completely right. I told Kristen about how we had stayed up all night talking, and everything about our first date. For some insane reason she fangirled a lot which made me laugh, and by the time I told her I was meeting his family she had gone completely insane.
“Car, this is serious!” she noted. “Are you nervous?”
“Yeah,” I whispered. “I’m not good with first impressions – I come across as a loon!”
“You are a loon,” she laughed. “But they’ll love you! Wow, spending new year with Harry, Anne, Robin and Gemma? Some fans are going to be really jealous of you,” she joked. I laughed slightly in reply.
“I know they’re famous Kris but I can’t think of them like that – I don’t want to!” I complained. “I just want to see it as I’m meeting my boyfriend’s family.”
“Good for you!” she cheered. “They’ll love you Car, don’t worry. And I’m so happy for you, we’ll have to go out to celebrate,” she said.
“I know, I’ll call you tomorrow and we can arrange. Plus I have to talk to you about Niall!” I laughed.
“Oh my God, I miss you! Speak to you tomorrow,” she replied.
“Okay, Happy Christmas Eve!”
“Ooh, Happy Christmas Eve to you too! Bye!”
“Bye Kris,” I smiled, ending the call. Clicking onto the internet, I searched twitter and signed in. Waiting for the page to load, I tapped my fingernails against the bottom of my laptop. Looking up, I found the page still loading. I sighed quietly, waiting patiently. Finally the page loaded and my eyes became as wide as a Cheshire cats. No. That couldn’t be right, could it?! I zoomed in the page just to make sure my eyes weren’t going crazy but they were working just fine. My hand automatically flew to my chest as I tried to slow down my breathing. There, lingering across my profile was 202,000. 202,000 followers. Was that right? Really? I hesitated and then clicked on my mentions box, where tweets were flying in by the second. And not bad tweets...really nice tweets. I smiled slightly and leant back against the cushions of my bed, beginning to read over them all.
-Hi Carly! Please tweet me! Xxxxxx
-Omg you’re so lucky! You’re with @Harry_Styles! Please follow me!!
-@Harry_Styles you and @carlygilbertxo are such a cute couple! #TeamHarly!
I read over the latest tweet and my eyes scanned over the hashtag. Team Harly. I laughed out loud, and found my eyes scanning the trends box. It was the top UK trend. My eyes widened and I clicked on it, only to see even more tweets directed at Harry and I. However the top tweet caught my attention more.
@Harry_Styles:
-You guys are amazing! Haha, right @carlygilbertxo? Love you .xx #TeamHarly
My heart stopped. Literally. I. Could. Not. Breathe. There were no words. No words appearing at all. Finally I managed to click on the reply button though my fingers paused on the keys. I had no idea what to say. Finally I came up with a reply and sent it, biting my lip slightly. Then I clicked on my mentions box again and smiled brightly, beginning to reply to as many people as possible.

A soft vibrate woke me from my trance and I pulled my phone out to see a tweet directed at me.
-Wow, thankyou all for making me feel so welcome, #TeamHarly? That’s amazing. @Harry_Styles, I completely agree! Love you,xx
A huge grin spread across my face. So she had finally checked her twitter. I clicked onto her profile and found her tweeting fans. She really was amazing, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. I was disappointed that I wasn’t seeing her for Christmas but for her to be coming for new year? I was so excited. I didn’t know what to do yet but I had decided that new years eve was going to be an interesting night.
