Author's note:

Hi, guys. I know I normally don't write at the start of new chapters, but this time I needed to explain something. I've had lots of people asking if AYNIL is finished or if I'm on writers block, but I am not! The ending of this fanfic is not too far away as you can probably tell, so I would never go on writers block at this point; I'm in love with the story too much! I know I haven't updated in almost five weeks, but this time it was actually purposely. This chapter is six months later and things are completely different, so I wanted you guys to feel like you've sort experienced the gap between Carly and Harry, if that sounds mad! This chapter isn't very long, it's basically just introducing to you all Carly's new life. So, enjoy! And the next update will definitely be before tuesday. Much love! ~ Faye .xo

I could feel my heart beating frantically, pounding out of my chest as I danced. I pushed myself further, so that I was moving to the fast paced beat of the song in perfect sync. I moved my body from side to side, dancing the rehearsed steps for the examiner sitting in front of me, watching me with curiosity.

I came to a sudden halt and stopped, taking in a deep breath as I positioned myself to face him before curtsying.

“Thank you, Miss Gilbert,” he smiled, a thick American accent showing. “That was a beautiful performance.”

I smiled, curtsying again before heading towards the door. I quietly closed it behind me and released a deep breath, jogging up the stairs towards the dressing room. I opened the door, only to receive questionable glances from my friends. I smiled sheepishly before turning to my right.

“Alison, you’re up.”

“Oh, Jesus,” she whispered. “Thanks, Carles.”

As soon as she left I was enveloped in a group of people, each asking me how my exam was. Being the youngest student at Juliard, the only student taking the course a year early, and the ex-girlfriend of the world’s biggest pop-star definitely presented me with attention, which I didn’t want. But there was nothing that I could do about it. I constantly tried to ignore the attention that I received because of Harry Styles; he was out of my life now, and everything was better.

After comforting the people around me and reassuring them that the examiner was pleasant enough, I packed my dance shoes away and threw them into my duffel bag before making my way out of the dressing room. As I stepped outside I breathed a sigh of relief, glad that my first official exam was over. My brain felt as though it was being compressed due to how tight my hair was pulled up and so I quickly tugged at the bobble, allowing my long brown hair to flow down to my waist. Then I turned and made my way out of the dancing department and towards the music department. I jogged down the long corridor and slowed down at the sound of a voice rising in a crescendo.

“Your heart’s against my chest, lips pressed to my neck. I’m falling for your eyes, but they don’t know me yet. And with the feeling I’ll forget...I’m in love now.”

I stepped into the room, several American male gazes turning to face me. The boy singing winked at me and I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks as I sat down on the chair nearest to him.
