I woke up pretty late but found that I couldn't get back to sleep even if I tried, so resolved to going downstairs. I threw a hoody on over my pyjamas and headed to the kitchen where I found Gary.
"Morning," I smiled and he greeted me in return.
"Your mum has just gone the shop," he smiled as I sat down with some toast.
"M-hmm," I tried but couldn't speak much as I took a bite. So my mum was out leaving Gary and I to 'bond' for ourselves. God, this would be awkward.
"So..." I began, setting my plate in the dishwasher before walking back to him. "How is the weather today?"
He laughed, taking a sip of his tea. "Good I think. Are you up to anything?"
"Going out with friends," I smiled in response. "How about you?"
"Your mother wants to start looking at venues," he said in a low voice.
"For what?"
"The wedding."
"Oh! Right, yeah, so you two are going today?" I asked.
"Well yeah, but we're looking at what she thinks is her favourite tomorrow. It would be great if you came Carly," he offered.
"I don't know, I mean...I'd probably get in the way," I said quietly.
"Don't be silly! We'd both love for you to come," he smiled.
"Okay then," I grinned. "I'd love to, thank you."
"Don't thank me," he laughed. "So..." he trailed off and I raised my eyebrows. This must be awkward for him too. "What's your favourite subject?" Ah - he was going for the school topic. I hopped onto the stool beside the island in the centre of the kitchen.
"Music. I like singing a lot. But English is fun too - I enjoy writing," I nodded.
"Is that what you'd like to be...a writer?" he asked.
"I don't know," I answered truthfully. "I mean, when I was younger I would always go on rants to my mum about beginning a singer or dancer on the west end or something," I laughed, shaking my head at how ridiculous that now sounded. "But I have to grow up some day. I have hobbies but I don't know if I want them to become jobs. I don't know what I want yet Gary."
"You're very mature, you know that?" he commented and I raised my eyebrows.
"I am?"
"Very."
At that the doorbell rung and I ran over to let my mum inside. She carried her two small shopping bags into the kitchen and set them down before looking up at Gary and I.
"I was just telling Carly to come check out the venue with us tomorrow," he looked up at her, smiling.
"Oh, great! What do you think Carles?" she chirped.
"Yeah, I-I'd love to mum," I nodded. "I have to go get ready; big day today."
"Where are you off to?" she asked.
"You'll see," I smirked before running upstairs.
***
"So what's the plan?" Harry asked me as my mum closed the door behind us.
"Okay, I was thinking we both cancel on them last minute but go anyway," I explained as he lead me over to his...motorbike. Oh god. He paused and turned to face me.
"You mean like...spy on them?" he raised his eyebrows.
"How else will we know what happens?" I joked.
"You're insane," he laughed. "So you want to see the movie now?"
"No, definitely not. It looks awful but I'd rather us be the first ones to see them together."
"I'll protect you, don't worry," he grinned.
"Protect me?" I laughed.
"Well I could just distract you instead," he sent a wink in my direction and I laughed softy.
"That sounds very tempting."
He climbed onto his red coloured bike and I swung my leg over after him. His eyes watched me intently and glided up and down me as I did so. I couldn't help but feel seriously insecure. After sitting there for several long seconds I found had to cough to get his attention.
"Harry?" I then asked, narrowing my eyebrows.
"God," his eyes eyes met mine again and he shook his head slightly. "You just distract me so easily," he admitted, taking hold of my hands and wrapping them around his torso before I could for myself. He started the bike and sped down the street. I tightened my arms around him, hiding innocently behind his slim but well built figure as the wind around us began to close in. Damn, it was freezing today. A perfect day for the cinema. After several minutes I heard the music of a familiar coldplay tune and Harry's head turned the face me.
"Could you get that for me babe?" he asked, nodding his head in the direction of his Jean pocket. Babe. Jesus. I reached into his pocket and fished it out, looking at the caller ID.
"It's Niall," I called, looking up at him.
"Erm...just let it ring out," he decided, so I did what he said and pushed the phone back into his pocket after Niall gave up. It soon beeped though signalling a text and Harry sighed.
"That's probably him," he said.
"Should I...?" I trailed off.
"If you don't mind," he grinned and so I took it out again, gripping tighter onto him with my other hand.
- Har, I'm at the cinema, you won't believe this - Kristens here too! Carly and her are seeing the same movie as us so we can all go together. Text me when you get here :)
"What does it say?" Harry asked as he parked outside the cinema.
"They're both there. We are the greatest ever," I cackled.
"Yes we are!" he laughed. "Come on."
After jumping off his bike he grabbed my hand and began running towards the entrance. We reached the front doors and I immediately noticed Niall and Kristen standing together chatting. Their heads turned in our direction though Harry was quick to act and pushed me behind a hidden but enclosed space near us. I laughed softly at him whilst he pressed his hands either side of my face, casually leaning into me.
"Are you sure you want to spy on them?" he whispered into my ear, causing shivers to run right down my spine. "Because I can think of so many more things to pass the time," his lips grazed my jaw-line and my heart began to beat at the speed of light. I felt light headed, but somehow found the strength to push him back against the opposite wall. I leant into him, inhaling his attracting scent. It was so easy to get lost in him. I quickly regained myself though and stood sharply.
"Maybe later," I winked, taking my phone out. He laughed quietly beside me and his arm slid around my waist as he bent down and rested his head on my shoulder.
"You ready to text them?"
"Of course."
After sending texts we poked our heads around the wall. I felt like part of the FBI, it was awesome! Niall and Kris each pulled out their phones and their expressions automatically changed. Niall's eyes widened and Kristen's jaw dropped ever so slightly. They quickly adjusted though and as they looked up at each other they each began to talk.
"I can’t hear them," I whispered into Harrys ear.
"Me neither," he complained. It must have worked though because seconds later they were heading over to the ticket stall and purchasing tickets. Fabulous.
"It worked!" I stood up and smiled brightly at Harry. He looked back around the corner and sighed quietly.
"They're at the food stall. This could take awhile," he joked. I followed his gaze and sure enough, they were buying drinks and popcorn. It surprised me that Niall hadn’t been noticed yet, though there weren’t that many people in here and those that were did not look like teenage girls. They went through the doors to the screening area and I teared my gaze away to find those amazing green eyes staring down at me. He didn’t say anything, just linked my fingers with his and pulled me out of the hidden wall. I leant into him and smiled. My mind drifted back to when we had first met, and although we were only friends, we still had to sneak around like detectives. As fun as that had been, this was so much better now. We stopped at the ticket counter and the lady blinked a few times as Harry spoke.
“Two tickets for the devil inside please,” he politely asked, pulling some cash out of his pocket.
“Oh no, I can pay for myself Har-“ I started, but was cut off when his hand blocked me opening my purse.
“You dare,” he raised his eyebrows and smiled slightly before buying the two tickets. The cashier quickly handed them to him and he grinned, thanking her. She looked star struck. I completely knew how that felt. We made our way to the food stands and after protesting a lot, Harry finally gave in and let me buy the popcorn.
"Thank you Car," he said as we made our way to the screen.
"No problem, styles. Thank YOU for my ticket," I grinned up at him. "Though be sure to expect a sudden panic attack from me."
"What?" he laughed.
"Me. Does. Not. Do. Scary. Movies," I purposely emphasised into separate sentences.
"So I've heard. This will be fun then," he whispered as we entered the dark room. The film was just about to start and it was pretty packed in here. I pulled Harry close to me and looked around for Niall and Kristen. Ah. There they were. Back row, right hand corner. They were both talking quietly and as Kristen bent down to switch off her phone my eyes watched Niall classically place his arm around her seat. Oh my days. Could our plan get any more perfect? Guilt suddenly washed over me; I felt like I was intruding on them, which didn't feel good. Maybe Harry and I would just watch the movie. Ha, with me, that chance would be a fine thing.
"Hey," his lips brushed past my ear and I met his gaze. He pointed at two empty seats by us on the back row though in the opposite corner. The seats all around that area were unoccupied which was even better. I smiled and nodded in reply. He let me go in front of him and then followed, taking a seat next to me. Unlike Niall, Harry didn't wait for me to get settled - he automatically winded his arm around me and pulled me close to him.
"See?" he said above me. "I'm protecting you." I wanted to enjoy this cute, romantic moment, really, I did, though the arm rest between us was making it kind of awkward.
"Argh," I laughed, adjusting myself until I felt comfy. That was better. I leant my head against his chest again and looked down at his Ramones tee shirt, tracing the first couple of letters with my fingers.
"Now I feel protected," I giggled before looking up to what I found to be my worst nightmare. The movie began and I could not cope at all; I felt like I was being tortured but I didn't know why! Who would want to make something like this? It was scarring! Throughout the film Harry or I hardly glanced in Niall and Kristen's direction; for some insane really Harry was apparently enjoying the movie and I was hiding my face in his chest.
"You okay there?" he laughed, stroking my hair.
"It's too scary," I admitted. His hands lifted up my chin to meet his stare.
"Here," he started, sitting up slightly. I got the message and sat up off him, he was probably aching after all. I looked up at the screen only to see a terrifying image of some person being possessed or something...crap, I didn't even want to know. My eyes shot away from the haunting image and seconds later widened at the sight of Kris and Niall kissing. Well, that was a job well done. Harry looked over at them and laughed, turning back to face me.
"High five for being the best puppet masters!" he quietly said to me and I pressed my hand lightly against his, not wanting to make a sound. His fingers linked with mine and he bent closer to me.
"This is unfair."
"What is?" I asked, looking back at him.
"The fact that they're going for it and we're not," he made a puppy dog look and I looked away, acting like I wasn't interested.
"I thought you were crazily engrossed in this horrific film," I bit down on my lip, suppressing a smirk.
"I'd much rather distract you," he temptingly replied with his angel like voice. It was dark in here so I could barely see him, but I felt his lips stop at the corner of my mouth and his tongue trace the outline of them. I turned to face him and let him kiss me, quietly slipping my arms around his neck as one of his draped around my chair while his free hand stroked my cheek. This was much better than watching a horror movie, and also much better than spying on our two best friends' big moment.
I was not complaining at all.
