The prison was boring. Yes, it was safe, but for a girl who had lived on the run for over a year this was boring. You killed walkers at the fence, you helped cook at night, you even got to go on runs from time to time. The only thing that wasn't boring was time spent with your friend. Daryl was gruff, and very country, but so were you. The two of you got along just fine. You even started a game with him, If either one of you went on a run without the other you would try to friend the weirdest item left over from before. Things that no one thought of anymore. There had been some real winners too. Once you brought him a beer koosy set, that each had little beards, it was bizarre. The best one he'd found had been a make-up kit, for kids, the kind with those chalky little candy lipsticks. It was actually kind of tasty. It was just a way to blow off steam, without getting into too much trouble. No one else seemed to see his playful side, but you. Today it was just the two of you, you begged him to take you on this run, he was just going to go alone on his bike, but you were so tired of the day to day. "Pleeeeeease!!" you collapsed to your knees hands clasped in front of you. He rolled his eyes and pulled you up by the arms. "Fine. Get your shit and meet me out front." You smiled and hugged him tight, something you forgot he didn't like. "Sorry." you said meekly before running off to get your pack. The ride into this town was long, it was a bit further out than you had gone in a while. You rested your head on his back as you drove, trees whizzing past. It was relaxing, actually, the only time you remembered what kind of world you were in was when a walker would pass by too. They didn't scare you anymore, all the time on the fence had seen to that. You slowed as the main drag of the town came into view. Daryl parked the bike behind a store and covered it in a dead bush. You leaned down to re-tie your boot laces, as he loaded his bow. "Ya ready?" you nodded as you unhooked the axe from you pack. "You look like a lumberjack with that thing." he laughed, you just rolled your eyes and walked ahead of him. "Want to take separate sides, or stay together?" you asked. "Not too many stores, might as well stay together." He was by your side now. "So no game today then?" you grinned up at him, he was much taller than you. "Didn't say that, did I?" He winked at you, and of course your heart skipped a beat. This was the only problem. You knew how he felt about you, a kid sister, a best friend. You however could stop dreaming about all the filthy things you wanted to do to him. Friendzoned in the apocalypse. Awesome. You were daydreaming a bit about that wink when his arms pulled you back flush against him. Walkers, after a possum on top of a car. "You want to look where you're walking?" he chided. "Sorry. Want to leave 'em or coax 'em over here?" He was counting them. "Six, you take three, I'll take three." You nodded and he shot an arrow into the possum. The noise took the walkers attention, they shambled in your direction. You waited until the first one got just out of arm's reach and swung your axe clean through the top of it's head. Daryl shot an arrow into the furthest one, and you quickly dispatched the other two closing in on you. They were all done for in moments. You shook the blood and brains off you axe, when you looked up, Daryl was staring at you, in a way he'd never looked at you before. "You want me to grab that possum?" you asked and he shook himself back into the world. "Nah, I got it." You wondered if you had done something wrong, he was looking at you like you had three heads. The first two stores where just clean. There wasn't a thing in either one. The next store had a few candles, it was a some kind of specialty gift shop, looked like soaps and candles, were hot ticket items, they all had pricey tags on them. "What a deal!" you joked and bumped your hip into Daryl, he smiled and shook his head as you filled up the bag. There was a smoke shop, that looked promising, but it really didn't have much, Daryl found some smokes, he was happy. "Those'll kill ya." He said as you lit one up too. It was stale, and to be honest, you'd rather go without than smoke a stale cheap cigarette. You handed it to him, he always looked good when he smoked, hell he looked good all the time. Part of you wondered if it was just the lack of sex for two years that made you want him so badly. As you both turned the corner you kept walking. He stopped, smoking and looking at the sign of the store. You realized you'd left him, when you turned around you followed his eyeline. "Hahaha, Really? What could that place have of any use?" He grinned at you, your heart fluttered and you cursed it in your head. "Batteries." He pushed into the shop, it was a 'lingerie' store, more like a sex shop, one of those places you go to buy bridal gag gifts. "Daryl you can't be serious, are you just looking for a porno mag?" He swung around and shushed you, you'd forgotten to sweep the store first for walkers, you held your hands up in surrender and he motioned you to take the left. You walked the perimeter of the store, looking at the outfits, a red one without a crotch, and then a black one, full body, but fishnet. It was beyond tacky. You came to the middle of the store, but no Daryl. You looked around and didn't see him. You went behind the check out counter and found a stash of batteries, he was right. You stashed them in your bag and stood up, coming face to face with Daryl. "Didn't find anything, we can go." He looked a little blushed. "Well I did!" He looked horrified. "Batteries!! I found batteries, not any, other. stuff." You blushed hard and followed him out of the store. Before long the two of you were on his bike on the way back to the prison. It had been an easy run, but less than fruitful, and really awkward. Once home you went to your cell to rest up, you had watch tonight. After dinner you climbed the watchtower, only to find Daryl. "I got watch." you said, sitting your gun down. "I know, thought I'd keep ya company." he had a point. It got really boring sometimes. Watch was quiet, and about an hour in Daryl broke the silence. "So, did you find anything on the run? ya know for the game?" You shook your head. "That town sucked." You laid back on the sleeping bag Maggie had left behind. "You?" you peeked over your head to where he was sitting. He looked like the cat that got the canary. You rolled over onto your stomach and propped your head up on your arms. You noticed his eyes weren't looking into yours, but at the cleavage that your position had formed. You raised an eyebrow. "What did you find Daryl?" you questioned. "Well, just something, that might, help you out more than make you laugh." He tossed a box onto the sleeping bag, you sat up and looked at it, it had been wrapped in brown paper, he had wrapped it. You tore through the paper and gasped at the picture on the box. Your face was surely twelve shades of red. You looked up at him, he looked scared. Like he couldn't tell if you were embarrassed or ready to beat his ass. "D-daryl... I?" he was blushing now too. "Sorry, I shoulda known it was a stupid idea." He started to leave. You shot up to stop him. "No, it's just. Did you.. ya know, think about me. Using it?" you asked, painfully aware now that you had your hand on his chest. He was beet red. "I guess, yeah." he mumbled out the response. You leaned up bringing your hand to the back of his neck. He wasn't flinching or pulling away like when you would hug him. You brought your lips to his, he kissed back, putting his hands on your hips and squeezing. You slipped your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. He picked you up and you wrapped your legs around his thin waist. He sat you down on a desktop and started to pull your shirt up. You broke the kiss long enough to rid yourself of the garment. You unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it down his arms, kissing his chest. "Use it on me." you whispered in his ear. He stood back. "Really?" you nodded. He took the vibrator out of the box as you slipped off your pants and underwear. Daryl knelt down in front of you. "You ready?" he asked. You shook your head yes. He kissed you there. You felt your body shake with anticipation. The man you'd watch take out hundreds of walkers, kill wild animals, fight bad men, here he was, being so gentle, so soft with you. The sky thundered overhead and a rainstorm began. You could hear the drops falling onto the roof of the tower. He kissed you again and again there, nuzzling into you. His tongue exploring every part of you. You moaned and felt him smile against your thigh. You let your hand slip down the his head and tangled your fingers into his hair. It was as if everything about this man was soft and hard at the same time. Soon you felt the cool plastic of the vibrator, moving in and out of you. The spring inside you tightening steadily. He was kissing you and making everything fade around you except for the sound of the rain. When you came you called out his name, and he held onto you tightly, arms around your waist, face flat against your stomach. He held you for the rest of watch. He was going to hold you forever if he could.
