Lynn
I brush through Mariah's thick hair, attempting to spend some quality time with her before everyone gets here."Auntie Lynn, how come my sissy's not coming?"
"Well boo, Mommy said she won't be able to make it down in time."
I feel bad for the kid. She has to be torn between her family because of Luca's stupid ass mistakes. We're both sides of the same coin. Because of my parents, I've missed out on building relationships with most of my siblings. Hell, the only reason we're here is because...
From out of nowhere, I see Ms. Henry walking toward us with two young boys next to her.
Who kids?
The closer she gets, the more in focus their faces become. They could be Renny's, but I doubt he'd dress them like that. From what Dad tells me, the man is a pure hoodrat.
Ms. Henry smiles, while the boys stand next to her nonchalantly.
"This is Mister Nasir and Mister Malik..."
One of the boys looks up, "With all due respect, it's Malachi."
I kinda like him already.
"My apologies, Malachi."
I hold my freshly manicured hand out, "Nice to meet you two."
The other one looks down and shakes my hand firmly. Malachi follows suit.
Ms. Henry does a small curtsey before leaving the room. The boys take a seat on the carpet. I try to study their faces, pairing them with the siblings I don't keep in contact with. Nasir looks over and catches Mariah's attention.
