As Merry-Sue stood, ankle deep in snow, on the outside of the iron gates of the Wellington mansion, soaked and shivering, she thought about why she was now waiting for Mr Montague to pick up her and drive her away from the place where she was no longer welcome. It's not like she wanted to stay, she'd been trying for 2 weeks to get kicked out, she just didn't understand what she'd done that actually worked! As she thought about it, the only conclusion she reached was that the girl she saw in the one of Myrna's many private chambers must have had something to do with it. . .
Merry-Sue wished Mr Montague would show up faster. She was freezing outside in just her fake leopard skin dress (Hey, you can't blame her, the air conditioning inside Myrna's mansion was superb. The temperature was kept around 25 degrees Celsius all year round.) Sir Steven had been kind enough to pack all of Merry-Sue's stuff before throwing her out into the cold. She stuck her hand in her backpack to pull out a sweater or an umbrella or something. Instead, her hand clasped a rough, rectangual object. She withdrew her arm to inspect the colorful object and memories came flooding back to her. Becky's rubic's cube! Merry-Sue stole- uh, borrowed this when she was packing to move in with Myrna. Ah, memories. She wanted something by which she'd remember her friend. She also borrowed Rachel's expensive looking necklace. It was in there somewhere.
Merry-Sue groped around the insides of her backpack. The necklace would be difficult to miss, it was plated with huge, sparkly jewels or diamonds or something. Merry-Sue's eyes widened as she realized she'd come up empty handed. She started chewing on her nails. She lost the necklace. How could she lose the necklace? It's not like she was careless with her stuff and left it lying around everywhere for anyone to pick up. . . okay, that's exactly what she did, but still!
A pair of headlights flashed across the pavement and Merry-Sue looked up. Her vision was temporarily impaired by the sudden intensity of light. The vechicle slowed down, coming to a halt beside her. The window by the driver's seat rolled down and Mr Montague poked his head out of his car. "You better get in," he said, "I hope you haven't been standing in the cold for too long."
"Good evening Mr Montague," Merry-Sue said as she hopped into the passenger seat, "Not too long, don't worry."
As the car sped away, Merry-Sue tried to shake off the thoughts about that necklace. It was probably worthless anyway. Rachel would never notice it was missing.

Becky was having a perfectly ordinary day until the doorbell rang that afternoon. She spent the whole morning studying for an upcoming test. Upcoming meaning a few weeks from now, but Becky liked being prepared just in case. She'd cleaned her room before lunch and was now getting ready to settle down with a good book or perhaps even a nature documentary. The possibilities were rivetting.
Just as Becky was about to mount the stairs, heading to her bedroom, the doorbell rang. Three short, consecutive rings that echoed through the silence. Becky halted in her ascent.
"Becky, could you get the door please?" Mrs Montague yelled from the kitchen, where she was cleaning up the table and dishes no one ever thought to help her with.
Becky hesitated for a moment. She was experiencing Deja Vu; this exact moment, with that exact ring at the door, had happened already. She descended the stairs and shook off the thought, surely people had rung their doorbell before. She needed to stop being paranoid. Becky reached for the doorknob and tugged at it, revealing behind the front door a person holding up a huge basket full of chocolate and flowers. A blond head poked out from behind the basket and Becky yelped in suprise, "Alison?"
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," Alison churped, pushing passed Becky and entering the living room, "I just came by to bring you these! And you must start calling me Ally. I'm not Alison anymore."
