As he sat there and replayed those last moments in his mind, he realized he had not fulfilled her promise. He knew what he had to do, but knew that it would be hard. But if his Sophie could be brave, then so could he. Nothing like a dose of reality to set you straight. Darcy carried his glass to the sink, and then went upstairs to change clothes. If he was going to do this, then no time like the present.

As Lizzie drove to the hospital, she knew she was gripping the steering wheel. She loved little Gracie so much, and had been praying for a miracle, but knew there had been a set-back. She was so relieved to find a good parking space. She had brought some books for Gracie, and was carrying them in her hand. As she approached the doors, she could hear someone talking on their cell phone. Little did she know, that said person was going to bump into her, causing her to loose her balance, and fall. The books scattered everywhere. "You really should watch where you are going!" Lizzie looked up, and said, "Excuse me!? I was not the one who was in my own little cell phone converstion world!" The least he could do was help her up. She ended up standing herself up. When she got a full glimpse of who it was that had bumped into her, she rolled her eyes with disgust. "Oh, it's you again. We really have to stop meeting like this." The man gave a sarcastic smile, "Trust me, I'm not doing this on purpose." "Well that's a relief. Look, I would love to stand out here and bicker with you, but I have somewhere I need to be." The man looked at her, and then hospital. "Are you headed inside?" "No, I just like driving to hospitals for the heck of it! I'm sorry, yes, I'm going inside." "Do you know someone in there..who's...umm...who has cancer?" The man's tone turned to one of compassion all of a sudden. "Yes, I do. I'm real sorry, but I need to get inside." "I'm sorry." What he was saying sorry for, she wasn't sure. She nodded and turned around to go inside.

He had just arrived in the parking lot of the hospital. Wow, he was impressed with everything they had done to the building. As he got out of his car, his cell phone rang. Of all the times for it to ring. He looked down at the caller ID, and answered immediately. "Hello, Aunt Katherine. Yes, I'm fine. No, I haven't checked the messages at Charlie's. When are you comming? Next Week? Okay. No, I haven't found love. Look Aunt Katherine I...." and then he bumped into someone. It was a woman. She looked like she was in a hurry. She had a bag of books in her hand. Those books had gone everywhere! She seemed miffed that he had been talking on his cell, and had not paid attenttion to where he was going. When she looked up at him, he recognized her as the young woman who had tripped in front of him a few days ago. Goodness she was a klutz! As he looked more intently at her....a beautiful klutz. Oh man, where did that come from?! He had just made a small step to get his life back on track by comming here to the hospital. He felt bad that he hadn't helped her up, but he had a fear that if he touched her, he would feel things he was not ready to feel. She said that she needed to go inside. My heart went out to her for going to visit someone who had cancer, much less a child. Could it be her child? Which would mean she would be off limits. That would be a good thing, because he wasn't ready for all these feelings he was feeling. As he watched her go inside, he waited just a few minutes before he went in. He walked up to the information desk, and asked for directions. The next thing he knew, he was on the elevator headed to "Sophie's Wing".
