(Darcy)
"Is Gracie okay?" Lizzie smiled and said, "Yes, it was just a dream. I think that little girl has you pegged as her "prince", and mine too for that matter. But I explained that love plays a key factor in all that. That both people need to be in love." Darcy noticed a slight blush as she said that.
"Why don't we have a seat. Here's the perfect spot", Darcy lead them over to a couch located in the atrium, yet also close enough to Gracie. "Oh, by the way, you left this when you went to go check on Gracie." He handed her the phone. "Oh, thank you! I normally don't just leave it lying around." She touched the screen, and Darcy could tell she realized there was a missed call. "I hope that you didn't miss any important phone calls." She shook her head, "No...just a missed call from a number I don't know. If they had wanted to leave a message, they would've. I don't return calls from numbers I don't know." He could sense a sadness in her voice. "Lizzie, what's wrong?" She took a deep breath...."Well tonight I was not supposed to be here. My sister Janet set me up on a blind date. I had never been on a blind date before. I thought to myself, "Okay, I'll try it"...as I was getting ready for my date, I decided to Google him....and... " Darcy wondered why she paused and looked at him funny. "And?"
(Lizzie)
It was him! Her "date"! In all the whirlwind of events that had taken place, she remembered that she had Googled him. She smiled, "Oh wow! This is exiting, confusing and scary all at the same time! YOU are my "date". I had a "date" with my blind date without knowing it! She saw a smile creep on to Darcy's face. "I know. While you were attending to Gracie this last time, I sent Charlie a text wanting my "date's" number. When I called it, your phone rang. I was so shocked, and ecstatic at the same time."
He then reached out his hand to hers....and Lizzie had no hesitation in taking it!
(Darcy)
Was he actually holding her hand? What made him do that? And why did he love ..like....the feeling of her small delicate hand holding his? He decided to share a thought with her, "When Charlie told me about this evening, I was a little perturbed, becasue he knows how I feel (or felt) about dating. I have not been on a date with anyone since my wife"...he paused and sighed..."died". In my frustration, I decided to drive, God lead my car here. Here to a place that holds memories......here to little Gracie.....here to you. We were destined to meet, because of God's love for the both of us. And I am so glad I kept running into you! These have been the best 48 hours of my life!"
(Lizzie)
She sat there in amazment as Darcy was sharing some of his heart. "I feel the same way. It seems like you and I are meant to be together. Maybe Gracie knew before we did....my prince," she winked and smiled. He leaned in closer, wrapping his arms around her....which she felt was the most natural thing in the world! As he hugged her, he whispered, "My princess."
(Darcy)
This was such an amazing feeling! Every wall he had built....every doubt about ever finding love again....seemed to slowly fade away. This woman...Lizzie...had opened up new opportunities and doors to his heart that he didn't know existed! He heard her softly say, "You sir, are someone, I could easily fall for." He was about to reply, when all of a sudden, he heard, "William Darcy Stevens! Please tell me this is your future bride!" Of all the times for Aunt Kat to be here....he pulled back, only to find a puzzled, yet smiling Lizzie. Her eyes held a teasing look of, "Okay buster, explain to me this one." He looked from Lizzie to Aunt Kat....and took a deep breath.
