My Mr. Darcy

Chapter 8

(Lizzie)

Wow, Lizzie thought, as she was settling in. Darcy had really thrown her for a loop. He and Lizzie had ordered pizza for the three of them. It almost seemed like they were a family! Whoa there Lizzie....where did that thought come from

Just as she was about lay down, she felt a tap on her shoulder..."Would you mind if we sat outside for awhile?"

Darcy had a serious, yet pleasant look on his face.

"No, not at all. That's why I love the balcony."

So here she and Darcy were...." I have a confession to make", Darcy looked a little embarrassed.

"And not even a full 24 hours."Lizzie smiled teasingly.

Darcy smiled back, " Well, tonight was supposed to turn out different. Ever since my wife died, everyone from my dear sweet aunt to my best friend...all have been trying to set me up on blind
dates." Lizzie wondered if she should tell him....

(Darcy)

Darcy was falling in love....with a woman he had only known for a few hours. How could this be?!

He recalled what his Aunt Katherine had told him..."When it's right, you'll know."

He didn't know how right she was until now!

Darcy turned to look out over the ocean, and began speaking from his heart. "My wife died of cancer, and I watched her life slip away. She was my world. When the diagnosis came back, and the doctor said no more chemo, I knew we were on borrowed time.
Her dying words to me were to love again. My heart has been closed off to those feelings for quite sometime. Tonight, as I was dressing for my "date"...I began to wonder if I was doing the right thing. And now, instead of my blind date, here I am, spending my evening with a total stranger." He turned around, and smiled.

"Little did I know that Sophie would bring me a blessing in disguise."
