I approached Leo as he played with his toy cars. "Leo, stop playing. It's time to eat."
He put down his toy cars and looked at me, bobbing his head up and down.
I returned to my desk to grab my handbag just as a low, husky voice stopped me.
"Where do you think you are going without me?"
Chase.
I turned around to see Leo looking at his own dad without even knowing who he was.
It made me feel like a bad mother.
He stood up, approaching his dad with a full wide grin. "It's you!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Leo." I said sternly, widening my arms. He pouted, slowly walking towards me as he let me carry him.
I steered my attention back to Chase with a pointed glare.
"If you have anything else, come back later. I am going out with my son for lunch."
As I was about to walk past him, his arms stopped me. "I am coming with you."
What the hell was he doing? First, he crashed into my house and wanted to reconcile with me. Next, he left me early in the morning without leaving a note.
Now, he was trying to get close to me again. What on Earth was he doing?
I huffed, walking out of the office as I carried the excited child out of the restaurant.
He seemed happy that Chase was coming along with us.
His car 'beeped', signaling that the car was unlocked. "We're taking my car." He stated, pulling the door open for me.
I shielded his head and sat down on the seat before pulling the door towards me.
He joined from the other side and began to start the car while Leo was jumping in joy.
"What are you so happy about, Leo?" I asked, tickling him as he giggled.
"Papa is coming with us." He grinned, pointing at Chase. My eyes widened as I looked towards him with wide eyes.
As he turned to the right, he murmured, "Before I left in the morning due to a call, I woke him up, telling him that I am his dad."
"What?" I glared at him pointedly. I was about to make my stand and rebut him when I realised that Leo was still here.
With my anger diminishing slightly, I took in a deep breath to calm myself down. "We're talking about this later."
With that said, we fell in a comfortable silence as he continued to drive us until we reached a fast food restaurant.
Leo cheered in delight as he clapped his hands. "McDonalds!"
I smiled at my little bundle of joy, unbuckling my seatbelt as I carried him out of the car along with me.
I walked into the fast food restaurant with Chase in tow. "I will order food. Come to papa, Leo." He said, widening his arms for his son while he gladly let him carry.
I watched as the father and son queued up in the line as he made Leo laughed.
A smile played on my lips as I sat down on the nearest booth and waited for them.
They came back while Chase was struggling to carry Leo and the tray of food in his hand.
I chuckled at the sight, retrieving the tray of food from him while he set Leo down on his laps.
I picked up a french fry, offering it to Leo while he ate it with a broad grin.
Chase opened up the box of nuggets and fed him while his burger laid untouched.
I picked up his burger, unwrapping it for him as I took the initiative to feed him instead.
He looked at me in surprise before winking at me as he took a large bite.
Ignoring his attempts to flirt with me, I ate my own burger while watching as he fed his son.
Is this what it feels like to be one happy family? I wouldn't have it any other way.
He wiped Leo's mouth while he giggled as he smiled at his dad.
"Papa, can I go and play?" He asked, earning a nod from him before running off to the indoor playground.
He looked back at me while I handed him his burger. Since his hands were free now, he can eat it himself.
He chuckled deeply, taking large bites as he stared at me intensely. "There's nothing on my face, stop looking." I snapped in annoyance.
He smirked, "You're still cute when you're mad."
"Don't play that card on me, I don't cave in easily because of the compliments." I huffed, putting down the wrapper as I cleaned my mouth.
"Are you still angry with me for not leaving a note in the morning?"
He dared to have the cheek to mention.
