"Bear in mind that he is a cunning man. He will do whatever it takes to break you if you betray him for Chase." She reminded sternly, staring deep into my eyes.

"So, what do I do?"

"It is up to you to decide what to do, Gemini."

I thought through her words, not realizing that someone had entered the room.

It was until his face appeared on the mirror did I jump in surprise.

"Roderick." I gasped, staring at him from the mirror before spinning around to face him.

He cracked a huge smile, taking in the sight before him. "You look stunning, baby."

I grimaced at the endearment used on me, trying not to throw up while keeping calm at the same time.

He chose to ignore my facial expression and extended a hand. "Come with me."

I hesitated for a moment as I stared at his large fingers. I took in a deep breath and chose to slide my fingers with his large ones.

His second-in-command whom I have come to known as Dallon, pulled up by a nightclub.

Neon lights were sported on a large sign as it gave off a light ambience.

What disgusted me was the fact that I was going to enter the place filled with smoke and alcohol.

I wasn't entirely safe even though Laura mentioned that Roderick's gang was considered influential in this city.

Who knows? His enemies might be after me since they could easily assume that I was just another one of his whores.

Laura had begged me to stay alert and stay close to Roderick since his obsession with me could be used as a protection against his enemies who were at large.

I took in a deep breath, bracing myself for what's going to happen as we entered through the open doors with our fingers intertwined.

Throughout the long car ride, I have been pondering through Laura's words and was slowly making my next move.

We walked a short distance and a flight of stairs appeared before me. As we slowly descended the stairs, I looked around to search for a familiar face.

"Do you want to know what happened to Chase before he even met you?" He suddenly mentioned, bringing up the past.

"Do I want to know?" I asked, raising a brow, absolutely unconvinced.

His lips tilted up into a smirk. "You wouldn't want to miss out on such a juicy story, I assure you."

I clenched my jaws tightly as I could tell that he was going to enjoy humiliating him in front of me to the best that he could.

I stared at him, emotionless. "Really? I'm all ears." I straightened myself, faking interest.

He laughed. "I can tell you, provided that you do me a favor later on."

"And, what's that?" I raised a brow in astonishment. He has done something that he has never done before; asking for a favor.

Out of all people, it was me he had turned to. What in the world was stored in that brain of his?

I have an unsettled feeling in my guts right now.

He winked. "It wouldn't be fun if I tell you now, isn't it?"

His eyes landed on me for a second before shifting to the front as his gaze was locked on something.

Or perhaps, someone.

I shifted my eyes to the front which concluded my guess.

Lo and behold, sitting on the armchair with two men behind him was the last person whom I wanted to see on Earth.

His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists tightly in anger upon shifting his attention to me.

Chase.
