13: Under Protection

I sat down on the chair and stared at him as he fiddled with one of my pens. The clicking sounds coming from the pen was not helping my anxiety at all.

It just made it ten times worse.

Finally, mustering my courage, I sat up and glared at him impatiently. "Would you at least tell me what you're planning? The suspense is killing me."

A smirk played on his lips as he shrugged casually. "Not really, I haven't decided yet."

I groaned in frustration, shooting up from my seat. "Forget it, if you won't tell me, I will plan it out myself."

This caught his attention immediately as his dark orbs raked across my face. I was really mad and impatient right now for god's sake, and he was not helping.

I tried to take a step forward when his holes burned through my skull. "If you dare to leave through that door, I will make sure that you will regret this."

His threatens ceased my actions as he put down the pen he was playing. Silence engulfed the whole office.

I sighed, feeling exasperated at this moment. I was throwing a tantrum because I realised that I can't let anything happen to Leo.

But, it was just making things worse.

"I am sorry, I just don't want to see anything happen to my son.." I trailed off, my fingers raking across my waves.

I felt a warm body pressed against my back as his arms snaked around my waist. "I know, I am planning to move you and Leo to my mansion where it is heavily guarded by my men."

My eyes widened in surprise. He could mobilize his men to protect us, this way it would be safer.

Why haven't I thought about this before?

I groaned in frustration. "Then why didn't you mention it just now? You got me all worried for nothing."

He barked out a laugh, his arms around my waist tightened.

"Would you go along with my suggestion if I immediately told you that I am sending my men to keep watch of you and Leo for 24/7?"

He was right. Being the stubborn old me, I would have rejected his plan since I was against the idea of being kept watched by his men.

But for the sake of Leo's safety, I don't mind all the trouble and discomfort.

I heaved a huge sigh in defeat. "Fine, we will do it this way."

He turned me around to face him, his rough fingers tilting my chin to face him.

"Don't worry, I will send my trusted men to guard you and Leo. I will make sure that none of them lays a finger on my woman as well."

What the heck? Possessive much?

With a blink of an eye, it was already Friday. For the past few days, I have taken leave to pack since I was moving house soon.

And it was the huge mansion that he has been bragging about to his inquisitive son.

Since I have taken leave, it meant that I would have to chaperone my son at all times so that he doesn't leave from my sight.

Who knows if he was watching me right now or following me around to track my schedule?

I was already terrified by the fact that he was somewhere around me, waiting for the right opportunity to show up.

So I have requested Chase to sleep over at my house in case he showed up by the door or tried to do funny stuffs.

This feeling was already making me sick and tired since I have to be alert at all times.

As I handed my boxes to Chase's men, my eyes would open widely by itself to check if Leo was still playing with his toy cars while his dad was watching him.

Even if one second he wasn't there, I would panic and wonder if Leo has went missing.

This feeling was already killing me and I was so tired and worn out.

As I handed the last box in my hands to one of his men, I began glancing around the house to search for my son.

Sure enough, he was playing piggyback with his daddy who was entertaining his son well.

I smiled at the sight, wishing that we could live like that without any problems.

He finally noticed me and approached me with Leo sitting on his shoulders.

"Weee... Weee... Giddy up!" He began making noises as he bounced on his dad's shoulders.

I smiled, reaching out for him as I lifted him off his dad's shoulders.

My eyes rested on his sweaty face as he have been playing with his son since the morning.

"You must be tired by now, go get some rest." I whispered, kissing his cheek as I carried an excited Leo to his playhouse to play with his toy cars.

I sat him down by his playhouse and he began engrossing himself with his toy cars.

As I turned around, I noticed Chase seated down on one corner of the living room as his eyes stayed fixated on the floor.

I began to walk towards him, spotting a smile on his lips as soon as he noticed me.

I sat down beside him and leaned against the wall. "Your face is always full of worry."

"I know, I just want to protect Leo." I responded with a small smile, resting my head against his shoulder.

"I will make sure that you and Leo won't come to any harm. I will keep to my promise."

I nudged him in his ribs with a smile on my lips. "You better do as you've promised, otherwise I will leave you for good."
