Ray is broken.

He's always been broken.

And I've always tried to fix him.

But I never could.

That's why he needed help.

For as long as I can remember, my little brother, Ray has been at Redstone. And I've visited every week. I'll admit, it got tedious after a while, but he's my brother, so I have to.

When I got to Redstone that fateful Tuesday, Ray was huddled in the corner, like always. I tapped him on the shoulder and his head bolted up. I smiled at him.

"Hello, Ray. How are you?"

"I-I'm okay." He whispered.

"That's good. Guess what?"

"What?" He replied, completely clueless. He forgot every year.

"Its your birthday!" I exclaimed, pulling a slice of cake from my bag. It was slightly squashed, but it would suffice. I offered it to him and he took it eagerly. I looked at him as he unwrapped it. Vanilla with blue frosting. Every year. Ray doesn't like change. I gave him a fork and he smiled at me. Well, tried. I hate it when he smiles. It reminds me that I can't fix him. It reminds me just how broken he is.

I look up as he eats, he's completely absorbed in his food. I scan the room for anything new when my eyes land on him.

Wow.

He's beautiful. Gorgeous. I was immediately drawn to his long, bright red hair, his natural darker roots showing. Then, his jawline that was flexed as he concentrated on his drawing. Then, his eyes. They were a light hazel color and they drew me in like a whirlpool. Then my eyes drifted down to his perfect lips...

"Mr. Iero, I'm afraid its time for you to leave." A nurse with a clipboard was towering over Ray and I. I nodded and said goodbye to Ray. As I walked to my car, I got just one last glimpse of this perfect boy.

I just had to know his name.
