"Would you take me outside and show me where you use your new sled"?

"Yes."

"Then we both have to change our clothes."Feriha took her upstairs both got dressed and took sled with them. While going out, Ceylin pointed out the cottages where Mrs. Emine and other servants lived. She was very excited. She was nonstop going on talking. "Daddy says" was the words she often repeated. Feriha could understand how much she adored her father.

She was happy to see color in Ceylin cheeks. While wandering both had come to slopes behind the house. Ceylin played with snow and was laughing; she made a snowball and threw at Feriha. Then Feriha made small one and softly threw at her. Both were happy but reminded Feriha the night when Emir and she both were playing outside in mountain house. Why Emir's thoughts always took her to past?

She shook herself  from past, noticed that Ceylin looked tired

She shook herself  from past, noticed that Ceylin looked tired.

"Let's go home. Aren't you hungry Ceylin? Mrs. Emine will be waiting for us."Ceyline looked at her Feriha and held her hand. Both returned hand in hand.

With the passing of the days, bonding between the two deepened. She loved the sound when she called her Miss Aynur. Feriha yearning for the day when she will call her mom. Both were getting closer. She told her that she wanted a puppy.

"Daddy says I'm too young to look after a puppy yet as he is away too much. May be next year..." Feriha told her a story; Ceylin put her arms around Feriha's neck and said, "I love you Miss Aynur .I am glad you came. Will you stay for ever and for ever? You will not leave?"

"Oh sweetheart, I love you too."Feriha said softly, felt tears crowding her eyes. She kissed her head. Then she felt the child stiffen in her arms."What's wrong?"

"Daddy, Daddy!" Ceylin freed herself from Feriha's arms and ran into the out stretched arms of the tall man standing silently in the doorway, picked her up in his arms. Ceylin put her arms around his neck.

Feriha stayed where she was as if turned into statue. She was not sure how to react. The moment she was subconsciously dreading for years was staring at her face. She was face to face with Emir. She was nervous.

She had few moments to gather herself as Emir hugged her daughter. She thanked God that she was dressed in dull colors and had tinted glasses on her eyes. She had not removed her glasses yet.

"You did not tell me you were coming, Daddy!"

"I didn't know until the last minute, sweetheart,"

"It was a surprise!" she smiled at him.

"Yes, you are right," He kissed her on her cheeks. He paused; his penetrating eyes gazed at still figure on the bed."Would not you introduce me to this lady, Ceylin?"

"It's Miss Aynur," She told her father.

There was charged silence. She was trying to think of something to say. Words left her alone. Ceylin again started.

"She is lot of fun, Daddy. Can she stay? I don't want her to go away!"

It was not the first time that Feriha had noticed Ceylin's deep longing for security. Her eyes darkened, anger gave her added strength for the difficulties she saw before her , Emir walked closer to bed, stopping only a few feet away from her. He was towering over her; she stood up barely reached his chin.

His face was inscrutable mask, his eyes were cold.

"Strange," he said slowly, "You remind me of someone I used to know."

She looked at him challenging."Really? Who was that?"

"Oh, no one important."

Her eyes flashed fire, "As far I know Mr. Sarrafoglu, and I have never seen you before in my life."

He looked at her with his intense gaze."I was not suggesting that you were that person, Miss—Aynur, only that you reminded me of her."

Before she could lose her control, Ceylin interrupted again, "Can I stay up a bit later tonight, Daddy? Please?"

Emir looked at her daughter softly. Feriha watched both of them in silence. Whatever the faults he had but there was no doubt he loved his daughter. Ceylin was excited, Feriha felt left out. She felt tired and emotionally drained."If you will excuse me," she murmured, "I will go to my room."

Emir looked at his watch."Perhaps you will join me in the study for coffee in one hour?"

However it was politely said, it was order kind, not request."I would rather not---"she began.

"I am sure you can find little time for us to talk. I promise I will not keep you away from your beauty sleep."Emir looked at her again.

"Very well," she said, wanting to escape. She was emotionally exhausted after watching Emir with his daughter. She always knew he would always be a loving, caring father. She had seen him in Ruya's time how concerned he was about the baby knowing baby might not be his."Good night Ceylin, see you tomorrow."

"Good night Miss Aynur. Are not you happy my daddy is home?"

"Of course I am." Avoiding Emir's mocking gaze, she left the room.

Closing the door of her own room, she leaned against the panel. She could not stop shaking. She felt numb, only wanted to cry. But she could not even do that. She was supposed to meet Emir in an hour. She would need her all strength to face him. In Celyin room he was playing with her. Despite her changed appearance and identity, had he recognized her? She panicked, did not want to lose control on her emotions.
