Feriha heaved a sigh of relief after Emir left. At least for now she could spend time with her daughter in his absence. She was always at her toes whenever Emir was in the house. She was constantly looking over her shoulder, afraid Emir would catch her. How long she could deceive him? She did not want to think of future yet. She was restless to confront Emir but had controlled her anger. She was simmering inside, never knew when she would explode. She wanted her answers where as Emir was blaming her for deserting him and the baby.

"Are you sad Daddy is gone away? Ceylin asked.

"No dear, I was thinking about something else. Let's go and have breakfast.'

The next day Feriha and Ceylin were making snowmen in the back garden when Mrs. Eminie called from the door,"Miss Aynur! Telephone for you..'

Feriha shook off the snow from her boots and then entered the house to attend the call. John was on the other side. She was happy to hear some known voice. He told Feriha that he was coming to Busra for some business purpose with Sophie. Sophie had asked me to confirm with you if they can meet for dinner together on Saturday night?

Feriha accepted the invitation as Emir had promised to return by Saturday afternoon. She wanted someone with whom she could talk. She was getting confuse day by day. Emir's closeness was making her vulnerable.

John told her that they will pick her up about five. After having dinner they would go to reception at the art gallery.

John told her that it was formal dress code at art gallery reception .Did she had any evening dress with her?

Feriha told him she had. But she would change at their hotel. Because her dress was not the one Miss Prim and proper Aynur would wear.

John then told her they will pick her up and disconnected the call.

On Saturday afternoon, she carefully folded her long dress and put it in the case along with her high heels and purse. Ceylin was looking at her with curiosity.

"I wish I could see you all dressed up. 'Ceylin told her seriously.

"Perhaps you can some time, dear. ...may be one day when your Daddy is away we could put on our best dresses and could have dinner by candle-light !'

Ceylin's face brightened with the idea. Feriha realized she was getting more and more attached to her little daughter. Her love for her little daughter was becoming stronger. She cherished the time they were spending together. She threw caution to the winds, not thinking about the future. Emir always was there in her thoughts unknowingly. She couldn't shake him off from her being all these years.

She put her evening dress in suitcase, glanced at her watch: four thirty. She hoped Emir Emir would not be late. He would not mind if she left Ceylin with Mrs. Emine for a short time.

"I trust you're not thinking of leaving us, Miss Aynur?'

She looked up, startled. It was as if her thoughts had brought back Emir.

"Oh, I am glad you are back,' She spoke simply.

For a moment a fleeting expression of what might have been pleasure crossed his face. Then it was gone, so completely that Feriha wondered if she had imagined it. He looked at her suitcase as he swung Ceylin in his arms. "I asked you a question."

She was confused,'Oh-no. I have been invited out for dinner this evening.....'

"With whom?' his voice sounded harsh.

"With friends of mine from Polonezkoy. They are here for some business."She answered, trying not to sound defensive.

"And why the suitcase?'
