Jack opened the door to the lodging house. He quickly wiped his tears with the sleeve of his shirt, hoping the boys didnt notice. Crutchie walked into the living room, "Hey Jack how...."
Jack ran to Crutchie and hugged him. "Jack... is everything okay?"
"Crutch... its Mandy," he choked on his words . "She... she... she has polio" Jack broke down crying into Crutchies shoulder.
Crutchie remained absolutley moitionless, "N-no," was all he could get out.
"She... she... she wants to see her uncle Crutchie..." Jack smiled through the tears. "Im sure she'd be estatic to see her other uncles too... Yall should come... if you want"
"Of course we'd want to come," Race wiped away a tear. Thats when Jack noticed every single boy was in tears. It was like something inside of Jack broke. He didnt know what did it, maybe it was everyone else crying, maybe it was him having to tell them about Mandy, or maybe it was really starting to sink in that he might lose his daughter. But everything he had been keeping inside came pouring out, hefell to his knees and started sobbing.
"Jack!?" The boys ran over to him.
"Hey Jack... she'll be fine"
Crutchie placed his hand on Jacks shoulder, "Jack, I did it... and she's way stronger than me... she's gonna be fine... if I can beat it so can she"
Jack smiled softly, "Thank... thank you" he started to stand. "L-lets go" a tear rolled down his cheek as he walked outside.
