Jack slowly opened the door to Mandy's room and the boys walked in.
Mandy giggled and started clapping, "Its all my uncles! Uncle Crutchie... and Uncle Race... and Uncle Romeo... and Uncle Davey... and Uncle Jojo..." all the boys smiled at her, but their eyes were filled to the brim with tears.
Jack smiled, "how do you feel?"
Mandy frowned, "my leg hurts, Daddy. But I think it'll feel better soon!" She was smiling again.
Jack sighed, "I hope so..."
Mandy was grinning, "Uncle Crutchie! My daddy says I have the same thing you have! Isn't that cool! I get to be like you now!" She giggled happily.
Jack lifted Mandy out of Katherine's arms and held her tight. "No... mandy... sweetie... it's.... it's not good," he cried.
Mandy layed her head on Jacks shoulder, her eyes filling quickly with tears. "Daddy what's wrong"
Jack looked back at Crutchie, who walked forward. He sat her down on the bed and Crutchie sat next to her. "Mandy... you know that I cant move my leg... well I was sick when I was younger... and that's what you have... but Mandy I was lucky... its different for everyone... it... it could be better for you"
Mandy shrank back, "Uncle Crutchie... will it hurt?"
Crutchie sighed, "Mandy being sick like that was the worse experience of my life... but think about it like this... it'll be over eventually..."
Mandy looked up at Crutchie, her eyes wide, "am I going to die!?"
There wasnt a single person who wasnt crying. "Mandy you aint gonna die"
"But Uncle Crutchie how do you know that!?" She was in tears, something very uncomon.
Crutchie smiled and hugged her, "cause I ain't gonna let ya!"
"But... but you... you don't even see me all the time!"
"What if y'all stay with us for a while?"
Mandy perked up a bit, "Mommy... Daddy... can we... pweety pwease with cheewys on top!"
Katherine and Jack chuckled, "sure... I mean we could use the extra help too..."
