Alex Stone
Where are you? -A
I looked around, willing Cassie to show up. She texted me earlier, saying to meet up for lunch, but she wasn't here on our usual spot.
On my way. Ran into Rocky. -CC
Worry gripped my heart. She ran into my brother? Oh dear, that's bad news.
What happened? Is he ok? Are you ok? -A
Cassie and Nick? That's equals to disaster. They hate each others guts, and always seem to go after each others throat.
Well, I may be exaggerating a bit. Cassie didn't hate Nick before, but my brother tends to be over the top in hating her after that first incident that my friend feels the need to retaliate.
I waited impatiently for her reply. Where is she, anyway? It's taking her awfully a long time to come inside the cafeteria.
"Hey, Alex."
I looked up and saw a handsome guy standing on the other side of my table. He's almost as tall as my brother, and lean like him. But that's where the similarities end. He's got dirty blond hair and easygoing smile. His pale blue eyes is trained on my face.
Kenneth.
I almost sighed with love.
Kenneth Mitchell is my brother's bestfriend since elementary days. I think I had a crush on him since the first time I saw him. I still remember that time when I..
That's so embarrassing.
I groaned. Kenneth doesn't seem to remember it, so I should just forget it, right?
"Where's Nick?" he asked.
"I-I don't know. H-Haven't seen him." I lowered my eyes. If I keep on staring at him I'd probably be a puddle of hormones on the floor before Cassie could get here.
"Can I sit here?"
"No! I mean-" I stopped, nervous. How can I possibly eat with him in front of me?
Why can't the ground swallow me now?
"Alex, are you okay?" he inquired, concern etched on his face. He put his hand under my chin and held it up for me to meet his eyes.
God, I can't breathe!
"I suggest you take your hand off her, Mitchell. Or else I'd take it off myself." Cassie thundered out at Kenneth, her face grim. "Though I can't promise not to break it in the process."
Kenneth stood there, taken aback at what Cassie had said. She winked discreetly at me, and I thank God for her perfect timing.
I might not survived that if it lasted longer.
"Kenneth, come on." I heard Nick call his friend over. He threw me a glance before turning back to my brother, who just stood there, watching me. I smiled shyly at Nick and to my utter surprise he returned it.
Cassie sat down in front of me.
"Thank you." I said. She just rolled her eyes.
"Honey, you should be happy he talked to you. Why are you thanking me for interrupting you guys? If I didn't notice you almost hyperventilating when he touched you, I would never have interfered."
I laughed. She opened my lunch box and smiled at the sight of my triple decker ham and cheese sandwich. There's also lasagna and vegetarian salad.
"I really have to ask your dad to adopt me." she said, delight on her face as she took a bite of the sandwich. "Hell, I'd even ask him to make me your servant or something, so that I could stay on your place and eat his cooking."
