Alex Stone

"Buffalo wings and two beers, please."

I nodded to the elderly gentleman and his companion, smiling before taking off and giving the order to the kitchen.

It had been quite a day. With the news of Madison Carter still missing, the whole town are talking about it in worried or haughty voices. Most of the people says that the poor girl is missing, while some says she might have run away or eloped with a wayward boyfriend.

Nevertheless, this is a small quiet town. Things like this doesn't go unnoticed and ignored.

I'm sure Dad will be popping at work more often now.

"Alex! Table four!"

I scurried over to the shouted table, smile forming on my lips when I saw a familiar face.

Kenneth!

My smile widened as he gave me a sunny smile back. His pale blue eyes twinkled as he looked up at me.

"Alessandra."

I frowned as I looked at Nick, who was sitting opposite my Kenneth. He seems pissed off that I'm not paying attention to his and Jake's order.

"Yeah, Alessandra." Jake held back a smirk. "Quit eyefucking Mitchell and write down our orders."

I felt my face go hot with Jake's teasing. I stuttered to greet them and avoided Kenneth's curious stare.

Nick's hand met the side of Jake's head with a loud snap.

"OW!" Jake howled, clutching his head.

"No talking like that to her, assface." my brother growled, then turned his attention to me. "Hamburger and fries."

"Okay." I wrote down his order, noting that there should be no mayo dressing and less pickle. My brother likes his burgers with ketchup.

"I'd take a basket of chicken strips. And onion rings, please." Jake grumbled.

I turned to Kenneth, who smiled shyly at me.

"I'd like a burger please."

I nodded. I was about to go when another voice added an order.

"And add buffalo wings, babe. With lots of those onion rings, please. Thanks."

Charlie blew me an air kiss and settled beside my brother, who look stunned with her sudden appearance.

I laughed and blew her an air kiss too.

"Coming right up."

I ran to the kitchen and had the orders taken. I took care of some tables while waiting for their orders.

"What are you guys doing here anyway?" I asked while cleaning the table beside them.

"Oh, just hanging out." Jake answered, his playful mood back.

"And you?" I asked Charlie directly. She's wearing those dark glasses again, and she still have the gauze pad on her forehead. "You should be resting at home."

Charlie just smirked up at me.

"Daddy Stone left me with Nicky, babydoll. He's got things to do."

I looked at my brother's troubled face, and he seems really annoyed. It also seemed like Dad made Nick come here at my workplace to be his eyes.

"Why would Nick have to babysit you, Charlie?" Jake asked.

I left them before she could answer. I figured Dad would want someone to be around Charlie after that fainting spell she had.
