My sapphire

Chapter Seventeen

A very sharp shiver ran down my spin as I rushed into the hospital the first thing I noticed was the smell's, cleaning supplies and death. I was scared for sapphire, what the hell was happening? and why was it even happening. I rushed to the front desk where a very tall guy stood waiting behind the circular mahogany desk, "Excuse me sir is-"

I heard my name being yelled out from behind me, turning around I saw sapphires aunt running towards me with a worried yet calm expression on her face, "Ruby you made it." Tear's slipped down her face as she tried to blink them away, "She's in the ICU Ruby." Tia's voice cracked as she said it, it kinda seemed like she was still trying to believe it or convince her self of something.

"Have they told you anything yet ?" Tia kept blinking away her tears, "The doctor said she is in critical condition." My heart dropped at her words, what does she mean by critical ? , sapphire will be fine.. right ?

"What do you mean," I grabbed hold of Tia's hands trying to calm her, "What's wrong with sapphire ?" I looked at Tia for answers, desperate for a answer. I looked at sapphires aunt, she didn't look good at all her eyes that were once filled with joy were now dull and plain and her skin looked unhealthily paler than usual.

I grabbed her and pulled her body into a hug, feeling like she needed it more than I did at the moment. I felt her tears start to come down as I enveloped her with my arms.

"It'll be alright, Tia." I hugged her tightly and ran my hands gently threw her hair trying to comfort her, "Look I'm gonna stay here and your going to go get something to eat and take a shower." I un-warped my arms from around her and gently gave her a push.

"O-okay, She's on the fourth floor ICU and room b6, I'll be back later." I smiled and gave her a thumbs up, and watched her walk to the café across the hospital.

Taking in a deep breath, I made my way to the fourth floor. I opened the door to sapphires room but hesitated on walking in.

Did I really wanna see her in this condition.

I didn't, but she was there when I was in the same kinda condition. I signed and stepped into the room, and took a seat beside sapphires hospital bed.

"Hey sapphire, Its me ruby .. I don't know if you can hear me or not but I just wanted to tell you, that you have to come back," I stopped talking afraid that I'd start to cry. I could feel the tears start to sting my eyes, "You don't have a choice, I'm not giving you one."

I hated this, how she isn't responding to anything, besides the crap she was hooked up to. I grabbed her hand I didn't really know or catch what was going on with her at the moment but by the looks of it and her it didn't seem good .

I didn't like to cry at all but in times like these, I aloud myself to shed some tears. I missed her and it hasn't even been a whole week or month, it was making my heart break.

The site of her state made my heart ache worse, the pain, her body looked lifeless and was as cold as ice.

The feeling of sadness was all I felt right now, "What's going on with you sapphire? " I grabbed on to her hand and land forward in my seat, "I hope you'll be okay."

I looked at her pale and her firm lips, they once held the biggest smile I've ever seen and her skin was always a lighter honey color but was now as pale as snow.

I wiped the tears that spilled from my eyes as I tried not to break down, the pain grow harder to try and ignore.

I clenched my fist to my chest as I let the tears spill from my eyes, "God I miss you sapphire! " I put my head in my hands and cried.

Is this what sapphire went threw with me or did she just feel bad for me ?

"Ruby ?" A hand touched my shoulder, "How is sapphire doing?" I wiped away my tears and sat up straight in my seat and found pearl standing with amethyst .

"I honestly don't know, pearl." I looked at her, "but sense she is in the ICU she isn't good." I gulped at my words and pulled my hair into a bun.

"Everything will be alright ruby." I gritted my teeth, "Now ruby, I'm not promising you anything but I can tell you that she will get better because sapphire is a fighter." pearl gave me a ensuring smile, letting me know what she said was her truth .

I tighten my grip on sapphires smaller hand, "From what I know about her and from what I can tell, sapphire is a fighter she has never not once given up on anything." I exclaimed , and than slouched in the hospital chair hearing it groan from old age. I thought that it was best fro me not to get to comfortable.

"Ruby, I know you have only been here for a little bit of time but I honestly don't like you should be here, you already look a mess as it is." pearl spoke up as amethyst was about to.

I closed my eyes as I heard what pearl said and my anger grew, "You don't think I should be here ? Really, pearl?" I got up from my seat and slowly started walking towards her, "If amethyst was in the same situation you would be just like me." I gritted my teeth, "Right. By. Her. Side."

Amethyst stepped infront of pearl, "Ruby, pearl was just saying. " She put her hands up in front of her, "We totally get it, you want to be by her side at all times but what pearl said was what I was going to say, dude you already look a mess and its only been almost a day or two." amethyst pulled me back to the chair to sit.

"Look at me." she demanded , "You stink, and I was going to say this nicer but I can't.. " she looked me in the eye, "Leave."

My mind went blank. I've never seen amethyst like this it was almost like she had taken pearls role and played it perfectly, I moved my gaze away from her.

How the hell do I come here to comfort Tia and get her to leave .. To amethyst and pearl coming her to tell me to get lost ?!

"Pearl, can you please go talk to the doctor or whoever about what's going on with sapphire." Amethyst grabbed my arm, "I'll be back." I got dragged down the hall, "Amethyst, stop." I pulled my arm away from her.

"Why the hell are you doing this ?" I stepped away from her, "You know I have to be here, I have to be here for her." My tone was firm and angry, "I thought you would understand." Amethyst gulped and stepped away from me, "I kinda thought you out of all people would really understand this." turning my gaze away from amethyst I started walking back to the room sapphire was in .

"Could you be more specific with me." pearls voice seem unsure and shaky, "Cause I'm not really sure of what your saying .." I could feel pearls fear seeping off of her, as if it was water.

"Miss I don't really know how to simplify it, I've already tried to make it simpler." A girls voice softened, "Sapphire hit her head pretty hard, actually she hit it a lot harder than we thought she did at first, turns out the way she hit her head and the impacted it,"

I looked around the corner and saw pearl standing next to a nurse blinking away tears, "The impacted it cause the brain to swell and bleed which caused her to go into coma." Pearl whimpered at the nurses words, "I'm sorry."
