I signed as I put down my phone. I was getting tired of Zachariah's empty threats. I don't know when he's going to get that I am not joining him ever again and that his threats of killing Blaze are not going to work. I continued eating my cereal, wishing that Blaze and I could have a better childhood. Life had been difficult ever since our parents passed away, but I still managed to feed Blaze... To cure her...
My jaw clenched. I finished the cereal and locked the house after talking my bag and phone. I unlocked the car and started it.
I lit a cigarette as I drove my way to school. I felt like punching myself.
Why couldn't it be me instead of Blaze?
She didn't deserve any of this. She never did. I was the one who did all the bad things, not her. I reached the school and parked the car. I walked towards the school, still holding my cigarette. I leaned against the wall and just stared at the people walking past me.
Most of these people were afraid of me. The rest just hated me. I didn't mind. In fact, I didn't give a fuck about their opinion.
Suddenly my gaze fell on her. I felt rather nervous watching her. My heart started beating faster when I saw her head turn and her eyes watching me. I didn't show it on the outside, but on the inside I knew I had feelings for her.
"How much do you love her, Hunter?" Blaze her voice rang through my ears.
"I don't love her, Blaze. It's just a stupid crush."
I stared at her as she placed her bag on the bench. She smiled brightly and hugged herself with a warm smile on her face. She was wearing skinny jeans, a red red tank top with a leather jacket over it.
The way the skinny jeans looked on her though, damn.
I shamelessly watched her as she took off her jacket and placed it next to her on the bench. She took out her sandwich and started eating. She turned her head again and looked at me. I stared back at her. I had no idea what was going on in her head. Was she thinking the same thing everyone else was? We stared at each other for a while before she looked away. And that's when I noticed it.
The red stripes on her arm.
I felt a pang. She hurt herself. But besides the red marks, I noticed something else. I noticed the bruises she had. She did her best to hide it, but I saw it when she laughed and her shirt lift up a bit.
The buzzer went off and I watched her as she walked off with her friend.

"So, any news about that girl?" Blaze asked as she ate the burrito I bought her.
I shook my head. "Not really. I did see her today though."
"Obviously. So, did you talk to her yet?" she asked and I shook my head.
"I told you, Blaze. She's just a stupid crush." she chuckled.
"No, Hunter, she's not just a crush. You know it. You've never liked a girl like this before." she raised her eyebrow at me.
I didn't say anything. I just sighed. I started wondering if I should tell Blaze about the bruises I saw. There was no way she could have done it by herself.
