The bus ride was quiet with everyone in it half asleep. We had ridden buses since The Dark Era when The Commonwealth ran low on gasoline for individual cars. The Commonwealth forced us to use buses  to preserve our gasoline surplus. This problem also led to why we now use atrificial light sources, that were invented in the late 2030's, instead of ligh bulbs.

Personally, I thought that it was pretty fun with all the bumps and how everything seemed to be going in slow motion. I saw Alex sitting right in front of me with his head against the window. His dark hair waved in the wind almost hitting me in the face. Then I had the best idea ever,

"Yo, Alex what conditioner do you use? Cause your hair is soo soft!"  I yelled to Alex while stroking his hair.

But I realized then that his hair actually was extremely soft. The strands felt like tendrils of clouds slipping through my fingertips. I also recalled barely meeting the guy a few minutes ago so it turned out that it was a very bad idea. I started laughing my butt off nervously when he smacked my hand away while he said,

"Dude, stop touching the hair. You're gonna ruin it with your nasty fingers."

Then I realized what he had said and decided on messing up his hair do even more by running both of my hands through his hair, ignoring the fact that I barely knew him and taking his insult in offense I yelled childishly,

"Hey! My hands are not nasty and well your hair wasn't so great in the first place anyways."

The only response I got is a hard glare. All eyes were on me and with that I sat down with a hard red blush on my cheeks.

Shortly after, the bus arrived to our destination, Commonwealth High.  As I got down the stairs of the bus, I ended up tripping on the last step. Then I saw Alex and he said with an ice cold glare,

"You're getting in everybody else's way!"

"Jeez! No need to get your panties all up in a bunch," I replied with my most sarcastic tone.

Alex walked away with nothing more to say but a grunt. We entered the school to be swarmed with other high schoolers. Though we weren't on top of the food chain just yet I still felt more superior than the freshmen and sophomores who thought they knew everything. Jo, Cris, and I walked to our lockers. Luckily, our lockers were next to each others  with mine in between them, Jo on my left and Cris on my right. While we were at our lockers, we talked about Alex,

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe you touched his hair!" Cris said, jumping up and down like a little school girl.

"Yeah, Alma, I saw you," Jo said, while wiggling her eyebrows.

"Woah, guys! What are you getting at? Also it was a bad idea anyway my dudes." I said, confused as to why they were acting the way they were.

"Well, we kind of think you have a teeny tiny crush on Alex," Cris said, twirling a curl around her finger, suddenly looking extremely interested in its intricate design.

"What!? Are you guys serious!? I just met the guy!" I yelled at Cris and Jo.

"Okay! Okay! Jeez, take a chill pill, niña," Cris said with her hands up in surrender.

"Jeez! I didn't even know that's how it looked! Oh my gosh what if he thinks that!?" I mumbled nervously.

"Nah, we just wanted to make fun of you cause he's the hot, mysterious new guy and you're, well, you," Jo said while holding her sides, trying to keep in her laughter.

"Jeez," I ended up sighing out for a response for the millionth time today.

After the laughing subsided the bell rung and we headed to our seperate classes. I was stuck with Commonwealth History for first block.  When I entered the room, I looked around to see who was stuck with me for the rest of the year and you'd never guess who I found sitting in the very back. Yup, you probably guessed it right anyways.

Alex Rodriguez.
