"You don't talk about your family much, actually not at all," Caitlin commented. The pair of them were enjoying glasses of wine and talking on the couch.

"I could say the same to you,"

"Well, my parents are divorced and my father died in a car accident when I was eighteen so..." Caitlin replied sadly, gripping at her glass tightly which stopped when she felt a hand on her's.

"I'm sorry, I can't say that I know what it's like but I'm here for you,"

"Thanks," she smiled for a second then snuggled back into him more comfortably.

After a few minutes there peaceful silence was broken. "They really want to meet you, my parents, I mean," he paused. "If you want to, you don't have to..."

"It's fine, I'd love to meet them. And maybe you can meet my mom and my brother, sometime,".  She stopped to think, they were in a long term relationship which made meeting each other's family an important thing. After all, one day they might be married, perhaps with a family... she couldn't help dreaming about her perfect life with the man she loved more than anything or anyone in the whole universe. "Although, my big brother might go all overprotective,"

"I'm sure I'll survive. How about dinner tomorrow night?"

"Sounds great,"

The next evening they were sitting in the car outside the restaurant nervously.

"What if they don't like me?" Caitlin worried, biting her lip.

"It'll be fine, my parents love everyone and if they love even a fraction of how much I love you then everything will be fine,"

"Thanks, let's go before I change my mind,"

"So Caitlin what do you do?" Nora asked.

"Erm, well I finished my final exams for med school a couple months ago and I'm getting my results next week. I've always wanted to be a doctor and help people,"

"I'll be sure to put in a good word for you at the hospital I work at," Henry said.

"So how did you two meet?"

"At a club. I was saved from a very drunk guy and we had a couple drinks together and started to date,"

"How long?"

"Four months," they said in unison which made them laugh. The other two at the table looked at each other and knew that they were talking to their future daughter-in-law. This was something that they had to remember.

After dinner, the four of them were parting.

"It was really nice meeting you, Caitlin," Nora smiled, pulling her in for a hug.

"You too, Nora,"

A couple minutes later they departed and the young couple made it back to their car. "That went well," Caitlin commented as they left the carpark.

"I think it did. Now just your mom and brother to go,"

"Well we've got a couple days to prepare,"
