Today was the day of Caitlin's final exam day for the year. She had to ace this, otherwise, she wouldn't be able to graduate at the top of her class. She was waiting to go into the exam hall while thumbing through her notes for some last minute revision. Not that she needed it, she'd gotten a lot done in the last few weeks. Somehow Barry's apartment had some kind of a calming effect on her. Or maybe it was just his presence. Whatever it was it had certainly worked.
Two Hours Later
Caitlin walked out of the exam hall with a big smile on her face. The exam had gone incredibly well and was sure she'd get a great mark. Now she could go home and spend some quality time with her boyfriend.
"Hey, you're Caitlin, right?" a young man approached her and before she could open her mouth he continued. "I'm Ronnie Raymond, a bunch of people in our class are going to get drinks, do you wanna come? Like a date, with me?"
"Oh, I, er, I have a boyfriend. But thanks for the offer, I'm flattered," Caitlin replied awkwardly, she'd never had to say that to anyone before. After all, it was rare that anyone wanted to go out with her. Which was one of the reasons why she loved Barry so much. Because he actually saw her as more than a nerdy, shy girl. In his eyes, she was an intelligent, beautiful, kind and sensitive young woman.
"Oh, I'll just go. But he must be a great guy to win your heart, Miss Snow," Ronnie said before walking away to catch up with his friends.
"He is," Caitlin smiled to herself, walking home. It was summer now and it was nice and warm in Central City. There was a nice summer breeze and Caitlin loved to walk in it. It wasn't that far either, only a ten-minute walk. Which is better than the half an hour trek to her old apartment.
Two hours later, Caitlin was busy making pasta for dinner. Barry should be home any minute but it seems he's running late. Wouldn't be the first time.
Caitlin was humming along to the radio until her favorite song came on and she turned up the volume and sang and danced around the kitchen happily. Her voice was actually very good, at least when she was sober. She was so distracted that she didn't hear the front door open and then close and the footsteps coming into the kitchen. She heard a chuckle from behind her and screamed then turned around and found her boyfriend laughing.
"Barry! You scared the hell outta me!" she shouted, clearly embarrassed. She stood in the middle of the room biting her lip and playing with her hair awkwardly.
"Don't worry, I think it was adorable. You have a really nice voice. I'm not so sure about those dance moves, though,"
As if this situation wasn't already awkward, a romantic love song started playing. Caitlin was so busy staring at the floor that she didn't realize that her hands were being taken away.
"What are you doing?" Caitlin asked.
"We are going to dance properly. Come on Caity,"
"Don't call me that," Caitlin quipped but not angrily, softly. She found herself slow-dancing in the middle of the room. The setting may seem strange but somehow it still felt romantic.
They danced in silence, enjoying the moment and the deep love they felt for each other. And it was strange that it all started in a club and a drunk creep. It felt like fate had brought them together, mostly because so much of it was based on coincidences. They looked into each other's eyes and smiled, it was a silent "I love you" and they didn't need words to express it.
When the song ended, they shared a sweet and innocent kiss and somehow they knew that this is the person they'd been waiting for heir whole lives. That person that could take your breath away with one look and that person who's smile made the world stop.
Half an hour later, they were eating dinner.
"So how did the exam go?"
"Really well, now I just have to wait for the result. But on the bright side, I can spend all my time with you now. How was work?"
"It was great. I've been offered a higher position as head of the CSI division,"
"That's great!"
"Yeah, but it means longer hours which is less time I spend with you, I don't want to lose you like I lost Iris"
"That's not gonna happen. I love you and I wouldn't dream of living without you, I'm not going anywhere. Right now, I'm the luckiest girl alive because I get to date you. Please take the job, longer hours don't mean anything to me. Just being with you makes it completely worth it. Besides, when I start working as a doctor, I'll have pretty crazy hours,"
"Okay, I'll take it," Barry caved. One of the things he loved most about her was that she always encouraged him and helped him. She was always supportive no matter what and always had his back.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do tomorrow. I'll just be here all day," Caitlin commented.
"Why don't you come with me to work? It'll be nice to have some company,"
"That sounds great! I've never been to CCPD before. Actually, I've been there once but that was a long time ago," Barry gave her a confused look. "About a year ago, my bank account was completely cleared out. Cyber-criminals left no trace. That's how I got into my financial difficulty. After that, Felicity set up some pretty impossible to crack firewalls in my account so they couldn't access any more of my money. Not that there was any left. I got insurance but it wasn't enough to live off of. But enough of that depressing subject that part of my life is done and dusted,"
