Dinner in the Great Hall

Me: and today for the disclaimer, we have a guest star... Alexander Hamilton!

Hamilton: Phoenix_Malfoy doesn't own Harry Potter, Hamilton, or anything else you recognize.
The food appeared on the table, and everyone started to dig in. Sarah was chatting with Hermione, when Draco interrupted. "Hello, I'm Draco Malfoy. What are your names?"
"Sarah Dursley" Sarah said.
"Hermione Granger." Hermione said.
"That's cool." Draco said, and looked down at his food.
"That's the boy with the smirk identical to yours!" Hermione whispers to Sarah.
"The one you have a crush on?" Sarah says with her smirk.
"Oh, shut up!" Hermione whispers back (A/N: instead of shut up, I accidentally wrote ship us the first time I typed that!)
What subject are you looking forward to the most?" Sarah asked, but Draco didn't answer. Sarah asked again, and he still didn't answer. Waved her hand in front of his face, and asked again, and then he answered "Potions." Like it was the first time she asked.
"Hey didn't you answer the other two times I asked you?" Sarah asked and Draco looked down again before answering. "I'm deaf. I read lips, and sign, but can't hear a thing you say." Draco says.
(A/N, italics in between slashes is signing)
/that's okay, Mia and I know sign/ Sarah signed to Draco, relishing the look of surprise on his face.
/How? And why?/ Draco signed back.
/One of our closest friends, Phoenix, is deaf, and we all learned sign so we could communicate/ Hermione signed.
Sarah looked over at the Hufflepuff table, and realized Dudley was trying to get her attention. He signed to her /did you make any new friends? All the Hufflepuffs are super nice, and I wish we were in the same house./
Sarah signed back /yes, the blond boy across from me is Draco, he is deaf, but that's okay, because Mia and I know sign. I think some of the other Gryffindors are looking at us weird though./
/ignore them. Tell him I'm always here if only talking to girls that can sign gets overwhelming/ Dudley signed back.
Sarah stuck out her tongue and signed /we better eat, the feast is almost over. I can't wait to try and video call Kate/
/kay, talk to you later/ Dudley signs.
/who was that?/ Draco signed
/my brother, Dudley. He said to let you know he is there, and can sign, if we get overwhelming/ Sarah signs, and Draco nods.
"Okay students, prefects will lead you to your dorms!" Mcgonagall said from the head table, and Hermione signed what she had said to Draco, who's back had been turned. The prefects lead them to the dorms, and nearly everyone was watching Sarah climb the stairs, and she swears she heard a few gasps and a whisper "I thought guys couldn't go up the stairs, or it would turn into a slide." (A/N: Sarah is both speaking and signing, which is underlined.)
"Okay everyone! Listen up! I. Am. A. Girl. Use she/her pronouns, and under no circumstances, am I a boy. Got that? Or did all of you not listen when I made my speech before the sorting?" A few of the people looked sheepish about that. Sarah noticed Draco's confused look. /what do you mean by you are a girl? I mean, isn't that obvious?/ Draco signed.
/I forgot you didn't hear my speech. I am Transgender. I am, or rather, was, Harry Potter/ Sarah signed, and Draco's jaw dropped.
/why didn't you tell me you were famous? And why did you say your last name is Dursley?/Draco signed.
/I didn't think it was relevant, and Dursley is my adoptive families name, also known as my aunt and uncle, and the surname I normally go by/Sarah signed back.
/I guess your right. It isn't relevant./ Draco signed. Then someone tapped her on the shoulder. It was a boy, who, if she remembered correctly from the sorting, is named Neville Longbottom.
"Yes, Neville, right?" Sarah asked signing everything she said so Draco didn't feel left out, or have to read lips, as Phoenix told her, it is rather hard.
"Yes, Neville. What is that thing you are doing with your hands?" Neville asked.
"This? This is sign language." Sarah says.
"Why are you using it?" Neville asked.
/you don't care if I tell him, do you Draco?/ Sarah signed to Draco.
/no. Everyone will find out eventually./ Draco signed back.
"Draco is deaf. He can't hear, and this is how he can communicate without reading lips, which is a lot harder than it sounds." Sarah told Neville.
"Oh." Neville said, not sure what to say to that.
"That doesn't mean you need to treat me differently, I can do whatever you can do, except the obvious, hear. Just make sure you face me when talking to me, and try to pronounce the words properly, don't mumble, then I can't understand anything, but don't exaggerate your words either, then I can't read your lips either." Draco says, offering Neville a small smile.
Neville smiles back, and says "I will try as hard as I can to speak clearly"
"Thank you" Draco says.
Draco and Neville say goodbye, and head up to the boys dorm, and Hermione and Sarah go up to the girls Dorm. When they get in there, there are two girls in there.
"I am Parvati Patil" one of the girls, Parvati says.
"And I am Lavender Brown." The other girl says.
"Hermione Granger" Hermione says.
"Sarah Dursley" Sarah says.
"I though your name was Sarah Potter?" Parvati questions.
"That was my name, until my adoptive family legally adopted me this summer, legally changing my surname to Dursley." Sarah explained.
"Is it true you were born a boy?" Lavender asked.
"Yes, but I am not any less of a girl than you are." Sarah says.
"Sarah we're supposed to FT Kate!" Hermione says, and you realize you are supposed to FaceTime Kate.
"Oh your right Mia! I nearly forgot." Sarah replies, and pulls out her phone. She goes into her contacts, and hits Kate-Lynn's constant, and it starts ringing. When Kate picks up, Sarah cheers "I told you it would work! In your face Mia!"
"Hello to you to Sarah." Kate says.
"Hi Kate! Meet my new roommates, Parvati and Lavender." Sarah says, and Kate waves, and they wave back.
"Hey! Do I not get and introduction?" Hermione says.
"No, your Hercules Mulligan, you need no introduction, when you get knocked down you get the **** back up again!" Hermione and Kate roll their eyes. (A/N: incase you didn't get it, this is a Hamilton reference. The song it is in is the video above)
"Only you, Sarah, only you." Kate says.
"You sure got that right! Because us Immigrants, we get the job done!" Sarah says, earning another eye roll form her friends.
"I'll talk to tomorrow Sarah. I've had enough references for tonight." Kate says.
"Bye Kate! Don't throw away your shot!" Sarah says, and Kate rolls her eyes and hangs up.
"Who was that? What was that? What were you referencing?" Parvati asked.
"That was my best friend Kate-Lynn, that was a Face time, and I was referencing the best show on broadway, Hamilton!" Sarah says.
"You shouldn't have asked that." Hermione says.
"Now that we're are on the topic..." Sarah pulls her iPhone again, and clicks on music, goes to the Hamilton album, and hits play.
"What did you do?" Hermione asks.
"I have no idea." Parvati says, and the first few notes of Alexander Hamilton starts.

"See? I told you, you shouldn't have prompted her." Hermione says.
"You know you love me Mia." Sarah says out of breath from singing along with ALL of the songs, it took her 2 weeks to learn Lafayette's part to Guns and Ships, and she was gonna sing it! Along with all the others...
"Wow,That was, wow." Lavender says, and Parvati nods in agreement.
"You kinda get that reaction listening to it the first time. We should probably go to bed, we have class tomorrow." Sarah says, and pulls out her wireless earbuds, connects them, and plays the album again, putting it on a Non-Stop (ehh?) loop.
"Goodnight guys!" Sarah says.
"Night Sarah" Hermione says.
A/N: okay! So do like the idea of Draco being deaf? How about the Hamilton? Because I love Hamilton, and it's going to worm its way into my Fanfiction no matter what. And the 2 weeks thing for Guns and Ships is how long it took me to memorize it. This is way overdue, and I'm sorry. I should have gotten it out sooner, and I am really, really sorry. I hope the long chapter makes up for it. I was battling writers block, and managed to update, banishing it back, but ideas are always welcome!
