*Miles POV*

I looked down at the tiny, feminine figure, with her head on my chest, and smiled. I kissed her on her forehead, then slowly started to wiggle out from underneath her. When I finally got up, she started to move and I worried that I woke her, but she just rolled over. I took the blanket off the back of the couch and draped it over her.then headed to the kitchen to start breakfast, I decided to go easy and just make toast, bacon, and a bowl of Cheerios with sliced a banana in each bowl. I didn't put the milk in Aubrey's bowl, because I didn't want her Cheerios to get soggy before she woke up, so I set the food, the milk carton, and a glass of orange juice on the coffee table for her and set my food at the other end of the coffee table. I ate silently while I waited for her to wake up. Her phone lit up started blasting 'teenage dirtbag' I picked it up and quickly pressed something, so she would wake. I guess I should have paid a little more attention to what I hit because what I saw on the screen, was definitely not meant for me.

J- Bird: Hey hotstuff where are you? it takes two to tango ya know.

Who the hell is J-bird and why did he call Aubrey hotstuff? MY Aubrey. I closed the message and messages with Kelsey appeared, I quickly hit the sleep button but not without seeing another word, that I knew wasn't meant for me. Smoke. It was there, plain as day, in exaggerated, black letters. I set we phone back down on the table and couldn't help but think that there was a lot more to Aubrey than she had ever let on to and my attraction towards her, made me feel the need to pry for answers, but I held back. I'm sure it was nothing, I was probably overreacting. She was probably telling her a story or describing something, like a color, and hotstuff was probably just some dumb nickname, right? I didn't have much more time to think of it because she slowly blinked her eyes a few times, before rubbing the sleep from her face and sitting up.

"Hey baby, I brought you breakfast." I said, surprised at how sincere and solid my voice sounded. She turned and smiled at me, running her fingers through her messy hair.

"Thanks baby." she leaned over and kissed me on the cheek, then added, "oh and Good morning." I watched as she poured the milk in her cereal then cuddled up next to my mind and couldn't help the thought that crossed my mind.

"Your mom hasn't called." she turned to me and cocked her head to the side.

"What?"

"Your mom, you said she would call, but she hasn't." She shrugged, not missing a beat.

"That's weird, she's probably busy. either shopping or doing my father." she added the last part, her voice dripping with disgust and disapproval.which made me wonder why she said it. Then as if reading my mind, she responded, "That's all that bitch ever does." I kissed her on the cheek.

"She's your mother, don't talk about her like that." I urged softly. She, now looking straight ahead, squinted her eyes.

"No she isn't." she hissed quietly but she said it hard and cold that if she would have spoke louder, the whole room probably would have fallen apart.

"You should eat before your cereal got soggy." I mumbled and stood up to take my dishes in the kitchen. I dumped my dishes in the sink and rubbed my face. What the hell am I supposed to do about that text? it's not like I can casually bring it up in conversation like 'Hey so I was going through your texts by accident and saw one from a boy. who's J-bird and why is he calling you hotstuff?' I ran my finger through my hair and let out a heavy breath. Not sure how long I stood there racking my brain before Aubrey was standing behind me sliding her dishes into the sink. I turned to look at her and she looked at me completely emotionless, eyebrows raised.

"You read my text From J didn't you?" she asked monotonously.

"I didn't mean to. your phone started ringing and I didn't want to wake you and so I pushed something to turn it off and it opened it and-"

"Miles." she said firmly, cutting me off. I stopped and looked at her. She stared at me for a long time before she grinned.

"Are you afraid I'll be mad at you?" she teased. I nodded slowly. She grinned.

"Miles your my boyfriend. You're allowed to look through my phone. I don't have anything to hide from you."

"Then why did he call you hotstuff?" She smirked.

"Because he calls every female hotstuff, that's just J."

"So what is his name in your phone J-Bird?" she raised her eyebrows.

"You don't know who it is?"

"No."

"It's Justin Bird. He goes by J and I have like four friends that go by J so I pt his last name in as well."

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah."

"I feel stupid."

"It's an honest mistake."

"So when I exited out of the message. messages between you and Kelsey showed up and all I saw was the word smoke. I'm sure it's nothing but..." I trailed off at the end. Her face paled. 'or not.' I thought.

"Is that all you saw?" she asked stiffly. I nodded.

"It's nothing." she mumbled and walked out of the kitchen. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"So much for having nothing to hide." I said to an empty kitchen.
