I stared at Ghosts casket, silently willing him to come back from the dead. I felt weird, bad, even, knowing that this man didn't even know me, yet he still tried protecting me, and that that had caused him his life.
It was windy outside, making the flyway strands of hair jump all in my face. The sky quickly turned grey, making me shiver. Sebastian was standing beside the casket, lightly touching it with his fingers, talking to everyone that came about how great a guy Ghost was. I barely heard what he was saying.
I stared at the blood red roses lying on top of the casket; the red color of the roses went great with the black color of the casket.
"And so I am going to end this by saying, rest in peace brother. You may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten," Sebastian said, making his way over to the empty chair beside mine.
Nobody moved, nobody said anything. All you could hear was the occasional sniffle and the sound of dry leaves crunching under Sebastions shoes. A preacher, Brother John, made his way up to Sebastians place and immediately started preaching.
"Are you okay," Sebastian asked, fiddling with his tie.
I grabbed his hand, entwining our fingers together and resting them on his lap.
"The real question is, are you okay?" I asked.
He looked horrible. There was dark bags underneath his eyes, and he looked skinnier than normal. This morning I had to beg him to eat. Sebastian looked down at our entwined hands, giving me a small smile.
"I'm fine," he lied.
I looked back up at the preacher, not taking my hand out of his.
"May we now have a moment of silence in honor of our dear friend, Ghost Myers," Brother John said, signaling we all bow our heads.
"It was never my intention for Ghost, as you all call him, to die," an all too familiar voice said after everyone began to get up and leave.
Sebastian spun around, pushing me behind him and pulling out his gun. I stood on my tippy toes and peered over his shoulder, watching Ace slowly walk up to us.
"What're you doing here?" Sebastian growled, yet Ace never once looked threatened.
"Giving my condolences, of course."
But the look on his face told me that wasn't why he was here. He looked past Sebastian and at me, giving me a smile that sent a wave of disgust down my back.
"How are you, princess?" He asked.
I scrunched my face up at him, but secretly grabbed on to the back of Sebastians jacked.
"Don't talk to her," Sebastian growled.
Ace laughed. "Don't worry, Chloe. I'll get you sooner or later," then to Sebastion," no matter how many men you have, I will get her."
The way he said that sent a chill down my spine.
I don't understand though, why try and get me now when he's the one that gave me to Sebastion in the first place?
