I studied Chloe from across the table. She looked a bit green, like she was gonna get sick. I watched her close her eyes and take a deep breath, and it clicked that she was trying not to get sick.

"Anyway," Johnathan said," so that's basically it. And until I can-"

"Excuse me," Chloe interrupted and raised up out of her seat, all but running out of the kitchen. I got out of my seat and followed her, coming to a stop at the locked bathroom door.

"Chloe?" I asked.

She didn't answer, but I could hear her in there dry-heaving.

"Can you unlock the door please?" I tried again.

"Go away," she cried.

"Chloe," I sighed.

A second later, the door opened and Chloe stood in the doorway, tears streaming down her face. I took her face in my hand, rubbing away the makeup smudges underneath her eyes.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

She closed her eyes and nodded, letting out a deep breath. I leaned in to kiss her forehead but she pushed me away, turning around and heading for the toilet again. I walked over to her, taking a hold of her hair and rubbing her back.

"I don't know what's wrong with me," Chloe cried, plumping down on the ground when she was done.

"What do you mean?"

I crouched down in front of her, taking her hand in mine.

"Never mind. You won't get it."

"Talk to me, sweetheart."

"No. Just leave me alone!"

"Chloe! I'm trying to help you here but I can't if you won't let me in!"

More tears leaked down her face and she yanked her hand away from mine. She stood up and started walking towards the door, ignoring my protests.

"Chloe stop."

"No. Not when you're going to be mean like that."

"I'm not being mean! You're the one pushing me away! You won't let me help you!"

I turned around, running my hands through my hair and letting out a frustrated sigh. "All I want to do is help," I said, my voice low. "You won't even let me do that."

I didn't hear her reply, and I just assumed that she had walked out of the room. I shook my head, turning around to walk out, but I didn't move when I seen Chloe standing in the doorway staring at me. I stared back, because I honestly didn't know what to do anymore. I watched her as she started walking towards me, and I didn't move to put my arms around her when she hugged me.

"Hug me back, asshole," She said, squeezing me tighter.

I couldn't hold back my smile as I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer to me.

"I love you," She murmured, squeezing me again.

I kissed the top of her head, telling her that I loved her too.
