Chapter 7: The new world
Dani's prov
When my hazel eyes fluttered open the warm fire was gone and my whole body ached while being seemingly ice cold. My heart shattered when I looked down and saw that my beautiful golden brown paw was replaced by my sickly pale scarred arm. It was all a dream was the only thing running through my mind. A beautiful and cruel dream, one I actually wished actually came true. I shook my head those things don't exist what was I thinking, but as I started looking around the room I suddenly realized something important. I was completely naked under this blanket, the blanket Colton gave Knight and I after we came home before he fell asleep on the couch. I looked over and sure enough we were in the same positions Knight curled up next to me on the floor and Colton sleeping contentedly on the dark couch.
Happiness sparked in my chest when I realized everything was true and that I could hopefully change back into a wolf again soon. I quickly took the thin material of the blanket and wrapped it around myself suddenly feeling sick with how many times I needed to wrap the small blanket around myself. Before I could move another step Colton's eyes snapped open and turned silver. He got up as fast as light standing in front of me grabbing my my bare shoulders just as he seemed to realized who I was. He let go of my ghostly skin like I had burnt him before a smile started to tug on the ends of his lips and he grabbed me again, but this time pulled me into a tight hug before he spun me around.
"Dani you're okay!" He announced in glee.
"Yeah, and naked." I let my eyes fall to the ground in embarrassment.
"Oh, yeah sorry that happens." He said with a chuckle while I looked at him like he was crazy. "When we change, our clothes tears away from our new bodies." He said like he was talking to a child, but I was too embarrassed to yell at him for it.
"So can I have something to cover up with or am I going to be wearing blankets toga style for the rest of my life?" Now it was his turn to become embarrassed before he left the room and came back with a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants that looked bigger than me. "Colton? Do you mind if I look in Vera's room for some... better fitting clothes?" I shyly asked hoping not to offend him by saying her name. He only nodded in response so with the clean clothes still in my arms I slowly padded off to her room not daring to make another sound.
When I shut her door behind me I walked over to her dresser pulling open the middle door taking out a bra and underwear before some lace leggings. I dropped the thin blanket before I put them on and pulled his shirt over my head while slipping my thin arms through the sleeves it went all the way down to my knees. The shirt was short sleeved displaying all my scars and burn marks while the patterns in the leggings did the same, but I didn't care for once so I turned on my heel and walked back toward the living room. I turned to shut the door when something caught my eye on the floor. I retraced my steps before leaning down to pick up the small metal necklace instantly remembering when I last touched it and an inferno started under my skin.
I slowly reached out my hand and touched the beautiful metal surrounding a seemingly glowing gem. The gem had dimples carved into it making it almost a miniature copy of the moon. The metal was shaped on the sides into stars and a wolf howling to the moon. It was absolutely breathtaking and it felt almost like it belonged to me. I shook off the weird feeling and shut her door behind me before walking over to Colton who was laying on the couch again.
"Cole, can I wear this?" I asked in a small voice. His eyes flashed open again and they were lit with silver making me smile. When his eyes met mine they swirled with a bright blue hue.
"Did you just call me Cole?" His voice held a weird emotion, but I just gave him a look back.
"If you get to give me a nickname then I get to give you one too." I reasoned with him making him drop the subject effortlessly.
