Chapter 8: Fresh air

Dani's prov

        I woke up again feeling safe and it was the best feeling in the world. I just laid on the floor and curled up to Knight feeling like I was a kid again. my side was completely healed, but I gained another scar Colton thinks it because of my shift and it was like my life was back to before my life went to hell, but now I had someone other than Knight to trust. I looked behind me at Colton and a smile sneaked onto my face. I nestled my face into Knight's velvet fur trying to remember when I was this happy before, but as I trudged through my dark memories a bright voice broke through stopping my search.

"Good morning Danniella." I smiled to myself and opened my hazel eyes.

"Morning Colton." I said softly smiling brighter when I saw silver slip into his eyes.

"How are you?" He said happily.

"Better now." I admitted glad he broke my darkening thoughts. He chuckled to himself not knowing what was running through my head. I sat up and ran my fingers through my blonde hair trying to find the right way to ask the question I wanted to since I woke up yesterday.

"Cole?" My voice called out shakily. He appeared in front of my face in mere seconds looking at me worriedly.

"What's wrong?" I shook my head.

"Nothings wrong, sorry to worry you... its just that I was wondering when we could maybe turn again." By the end of my question my eyes were burning into the floor and my voice had gotten quieter than a whisper.

"Dani, you know you don't have to be scared anymore. We can turn soon, I promise okay?" He said softly before tilting my chin so I could look into his eyes. I smiled and nodded my head silently telling him that I trusted him. "So, Dani what do you want for breakfast?" He smiled at me, but I only shrugged in response making him roll his eyes playfully at me. "Tell you what, if you give me one actual vocal response to a question we can shift today, alright?"

I jumped to my feet in excitement and I could feel something inside me stir while my eyes warmed almost as if they were shining.

"Okay!" I said excitedly and Colton's mouth popped open in shock.

"Dani, your eyes just glowed." He said amazed.

"Really? Were they silver like yours?" I asked curiously. He shook his head and it made me sad for some reason like it was another thing that was different between us, but I quickly brushed off the feeling.

"Your eyes glow like a golden brown almost honey color, I haven't seen a lot of wolf's eyes turn that color before.

"Oh." I said softly.

Colton walked over to me and put my head in his hands softly brushing some blonde strands of hair out of my face. He was the only person in years I have ever let be close to me let alone touch me, but his touch didn't leave a discussing crawling feeling over my skin or hurt me. He rested his forehead on mine looking into my eyes with his own silver laced ones.
