Chapter 14

Layla's P.O.V.

My phone rang and buzzed. I looked at it. Someone was skyping me. "Mitch." I said smiling. Liv heard me. "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!" She said in a teasing voice. Lily and Lauren both laughed. I just rolled my eyes. "Hey!" I said answering the call. "Whatcha doing?" I asked. "Jerome wanted me to tell you to tell Lauren..." Mitch paused. He looked like he was running while laughing. "BIGGUMS I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" Jerome yelled in the distance. I laughed but I felt sad. So Mitch hadn't called for me. Mitch opened his mouth to speak. The camera rocked and it fell to the floor. I could hear yelling and muffled shouts. The camera finally went back into focus. Apparently Jerome had tackled Mitch. 

"Who's there?" Lauren asked. "Just your boyfriend and his friend." I teased. Lauren blushed and punched me in the arm. "Hey Jerome!" She called. I saw Jerome's smiling face fill the screen. "Lauren!" He said. Mitch stood up. "Biggums I am going to kill you if you take one more step toward the skype machine." Jerome threatened. Lauren and I laughed. Mitch held up his hands in surrender. "I was just going to ask Layla if she wanted to come to get some lunch!" He said shrugging. "Mitch has a girlfriend! Mitch has a girlfriend!" Jerome sang. I laughed. "I could say the same about you!" I said looking at Lauren. She was smiling. I heard Mitch laugh and I saw Jerome go beet red. "Aw shut up! Just go on your date!" He called. I laughed. "I'll be there in 10!" Mitch promised. I nodded. Jerome and Lauren continued their conversation on the computers. "Mitch asked you out?" Liv said appearing in the kitchen. "It's just lunch!" I protested. "I can see the wedding already!" Lily said joining us. I shook my head. "Double teaming is so not fair!" I said in a whiny voice. "Lunch? Mind if I join?" Lauren said walking in. I didn't want her to come but I did at the same time. "Fine, but ask Jerome if he's coming so it won't be awkward." I said. "I'll ask Adam if he wants to come." Lily said. I gave Liv a look. She smiled. They got something going on. She mouthed. I smiled. "I can ask Jason if he wants to come. Quentin can come too! Along with Ian of course." I said to her. She nodded and smiled. "Sounds great." She said.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Mitch's number. "Sounds like our lunch meet is becoming a group thing." He said as soon as he picked up. "Sorry." I said. "It's fine. It'll be cool this way what with all of us hanging out." He said. I could piratically picture him smiling. I pictured him with a pink 'fro. I smiled. "I'll see ya." I said hanging up. 

*AT THE RESTAURANT*

Lauren, Liv, Lily, and I walked in. "Over here!" Someone shouted.The boys were in a large booth in the corner of the restaurant. We walked over. "Hey guys! Thanks for coming!" I said. "I think you mean thanks for crashing your date with Mitch." Jerome said rolling his eyes. Everyone laughed and Mitch punched Jerome in the arm playfully. They scooted to make room for us. I was in between Jason and Mitch.

Great.

Just great. 

Lauren sat next to Jerome (Awwwwww). Lily sat next to Adam (Awwwww). And Liv sat on the opposite side of Jason. (No awwww here). 

"Did you guys already order?" Lily asked. I noticed that she was holding hands with Adam. (DOUBLE AWWWWW). I nudged Jason and pointed under the table. He saw what I was pointing at and smiled. "It's adorable! Like an Afro puppy holding hands with a bunny." He whispered into my ear. I giggled. Mitch shot us a look.

Jealous again? Are you kidding me?

We are just friends! I mouthed. The waitress came over. "Didn't see you four come in. Sorry about that! What would you like?" She asked. "I'll have a sundae and a cheeseburger." I said. "Make sure the sundae comes first." 

Lauren, Liv, and Lily rolled their eyes. They gave their own orders and the waitress left. "Why do you order the sundae first? That's kind of weird!" Ian said. I whipped my head in his direction. "You calling me fat?!" I said in a shocked and orderly voice (is that a good way of explaining it?). Everyone laughed. "You're nowhere near fat I assure you." Jason said. "Me on the other hand..." He trailed off. I giggled. Everyone else started laughing and chatting. 

Jason grabbed my hand under the table.

At the exact same time Mitch did.

Crap.

Only Liv noticed. Don't say anything. She mouthed. I nodded. 

"So Layla got a job!" Liv announced. Everyone turned to look at me. I nodded. Liv explained all the details of the job. Everyone congratulated me. Liv started clapping. Slowly everyone joined in.

Including Jason and Mitch.

Thank god for Liv.

I put my hands on the table so they couldn't grab them again. Jason flashed me a smile and I felt my heart thump.

Just friends. Just friends. Just friends.

"Speaking of that. I got some good news!" Jerome said. We turned to look at him. "Me and Mitch are gonna go to UCLA for a year or two!" He said smiling. I smiled. This was going to be awkward. "Me too!" Lauren said. My jaw dropped. "Boo yah!" I yelled. Everyone in the restaurant turned to look at me.

"It's Layla Blue." I heard people whisper.

"Lx4 is here! OMG! I got to take a pic!"

"Team crafted is with them!"

"Are some of them dating?"

Typical of fans to jump to conclusions (no offense). We ate our food and left.

*OUTSIDE THE HOUSE*

"Sorry again for the group thing." I said to Mitch. 'It's alright! We'll just go alone a different time." He said to me. I blushed. It was early December so the trees were still bright reds, oranges, and yellows. I smiled. "Anytime. Just give me a call." I said ready to turn away. "Wait Layla!" He called. I turned back toward him. He shifted from foot to foot. "Uh-" 

"MITCHELL! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SAY YOU LIKE HER?!" Jerome yelled getting out of the car. "Fine. Fine." Mitch said.

He looked at me and stepped closer. He brushed a lock of hair out of my eyes. 

I looked up at him and he smiled.

"I like you."

SMILEY FACE! He liked me! Was that good or bad? I'd ask Liv later. Mitch gave me a kiss on the cheek and he got into the passenger seat. Jerome had been watching us. "Hold on a moment biggums. I gotta ask the lady something." He said. Mitch rolled his eyes but nodded.

Uh oh.

"Hey Layla?" He said. "Yes Jerome?" I said. "This isn't what you think it is but-" I interrupted him. "You want to apologize?" I said. He nodded. "I was really drunk and I thought you were- well nevermind. But I did tell you I know who you are right?" He said. I nodded. "Right before you kissed me yes." I said smirking. He laughed. "Forget that happened. Mitch likes you and he's my best friend. I can't come between that." He said. I nodded. "I know how you feel. I mean, you like Lauren, she likes you. I'm not coming between that." I said giggling. Jerome chuckled. "It'll be our little secret for now." He said walking back toward the car. I waved good bye. "See ya!" I called after him. He waved over his shoulder. I walked back in the house.

"Liv?" I called. She was in the living room.

"Said he liked you?" She said. I nodded.

"You're happy?" Nod.

"But you still like Jason a little?" Nod.

"Even though you're just friends?" Nod. 

"Now you're confused?" Nod.

Liv smiled. "Take what you got. Let's leave it at that. Jason's a nice guy, but you two should stay just friends for now." She said. I smiled.

"Well now we gotta get Lauren and Jerome on track!" I said plopping myself on the couch. "Way ahead of you sister." She said laughing. I laughed with her. "Speaking of way ahead. Melissa called." Liv said standing up.

"We got our album." She said.

I smiled. "Yay!" I said bouncing up and down. "She told you?" Lily said walking in with her hands over her ears. I nodded. "We should celebrate!" Lauren said joining us. This isn't a very big house is it? "We'll throw a party!" Liv said excitedly.

Not another party!
