Layla's P.O.V.

I put my head on Mitch's shoulder as we watched the fireworks. "They're beautiful." I whispered. "Not as beautiful as you." Mitch whispered. I smiled but felt a pang of sadness. That was almost the exact thing Jason said at the first party. Liv's words echoed in my head.

Take what you got.

I forgot him. I thought I knew everything about him. But I chose to forget him.

It was getting cold. I shivered. Mitch noticed.

"Let's go back inside." He suggested. I nodded. When we walked into the living room I could tell Liv was watching me. Jerome came up. "Do you mind if I steal Mitch for a second?" He asked. "Go ahead." I said smiling. The walked off. I sat next to Liv on the couch. Lauren joined us. "Jerome kissed me!" She squealed. I smiled.

"I saw." I said giggling. Liv smirked. "Cupid in DA HOUSE!" She yelled. We laughed. "Now all we got to do is get Lily and Adam together." I said micheviously. "Hold up!" Lauren said. "What about you and Mitch?" Liv said waggling her eyebrows. I laughed.

"We kissed. Happy?" I said. Lauren and Liv exchanged looks.

"DUH!"

I laughed. "I'll see you guys around. I want to find Mitch." I said.

As I walked off I could hear the two going "ooooooooooooooooooooooh!" Really loudly. I rolled my eyes.

"Hey Jerome!" I said bumping into him. "Layla!" He said waving. "I see you're not drunk so I assume it's safe to sit next to you." I said taking a seat.

"I heard you kissed Lauren." I said right away. Jerome blushed. He nodded. "I'm tweeting that!" I said laughing. He chased me.

"KIDDING!" I said after we ran for a couple minutes. He stopped and gasped for air. "Dude you need to join a gym or something!" I giggled. He looked up at me. "Kidding!" I said holding my hands up in surrender. "Alright but you need to call me King Jerome from now on." He said laughing. "Fine." I said pouting.

"By the way, do you know where Mitch is?" I asked. Jerome shook his head. "Probably somewhere around here." He said shrugging. I walked away.

I started looking for Mitch.

Maybe he's in one of the rooms.

I opened the doors.

Nope.

There was one last door at the end of the hallway.

I slowly turned the knob. I could hear noises from inside. Maybe Mitch was in there!

The door swung open. My heart dropped. I shrieked in surprise.

Both Mitch and the blond chick he was kissing looked up.

I wanted to swear so badly.

That's how he died. That's how he died.

"Layla!" Mitch called. He looked guilty. The blond chick was smirking. "I can explain!"

I didn't want to hear the explaination and I didn't wait for him to try to explain. I took off down the hallway. I could hear footsteps behind me. Mitch was chasing me. I needed to get as far as possible from that room. The terrace crossed my mind.

No. That's where Mitch kissed me.

I sobbed.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I was so stupid! To think that wishes are real! Man I was an idiot!

I kept running and found myself in front of a glass door. "The balcony." I whispered. I could hear someone running down the hall. I opened the doors and walked onto the balcony. I pressed myself against the railing farthest away from the door.

I saw Mitch run past.

Slowly I eased myself off the railing. I took a deep breath.

Don't cry. Keep your tears in.

I looked at the stars. "Why can't life be as beautiul as this?" I whispered.

It must have been thirty minutes before I heard the creak of the door behind me.

"Layla?"

I didn't recognize the voice so I didn't speak.

"Are you okay?" The voice said. I finally recognized it. It was Jason.

I still didn't speak.

"Aren't you cold?" Jason asked. I didn't turn around. I slowly nodded. He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me and gave me a hug. "You aren't okay are you?"

I shook my head.

"You wanna tell me what's going on?" He asked.

I shook my head again.

"C'mon Layla! We're friends!" Jason pleaded.

Just friends.

"Fine." I whispered. Jason smiled.

I told him everything.

Including my past.

I was tired of lying. Tired of holding it in. It felt good to say.

Jason stared at me.

"You knew Mitch before like a couple weeks ago?"

I nodded.

"If it makes you feel better he's a total doody head for doing you know what to you." Jason said.

I smiled. "It does."

I felt a tear trickle down my face.

"I have to go." I whispered. I started to run toward the door but I slipped on a piece of ice and fell backward.

Over the railing.

I was hanging on a ledge three stories up.

"Help me!" I shrieked. Jason extended his hand. "Hold on!" I grabbed it. "Put your foot on that ledge!" He screamed. I tried to fit my foot on the ledge and I slipped. The ledge was slippery with ice. My hand slipped from Jason's grasp and I was holding onto only the slippery icy ledge. I screamed. I didn't breath.

Make the pain go away.

I closed my eyes and waited. Waited for me to slip. Waited for my death. I felt someone grab me and pull on my arms. I screamed. "Let me go! Let me die!" I shrieked. I felt my feet hit solid ground and someone's arm wrap around me.

"I'm always here for you. I won't let you get hurt." Jason whispered. My heart was beating a mile a minute. I could feel Jason's breath on my neck. The reality of everything finally sunk in. I sobbed. "Shh, shh, it's okay Layla." Jason whispered. I tried to stop my tears. He let go of me and faced me. He wiped my tears away with his thumb. "You're beautiful, you're smart, you're funny, you're amazing. You're perfect. There's no need for you to cry." He whispered. I looked at him. He smiled and pulled me into a hug.

"Thank you. For everything." I whispered. I pulled away and faced the glass door. I saw a flash of clothing. Someone had been watching us.

Mitch.
