Mitch's P.O.V.
I raced down the hall away from the balcony.
Had they seen me?
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
I found an empty room and sat down on the bed and started sobbing. No one could see me. Nothing mattered.
I'd almost broke down crying right then and there when I had seen Layla in Jason's arms. I broke her heart. She'd never forgive me.
*FLASHBACK*
"Hey pretty boy!" An obviously drunk girl said sitting next to me. "Uh, hi." I said looking for Layla. She looked at me. "You look bored." She cooed. "Have a drink." She whispered. I shook my head and stood up. The girl stood up as well. "Come on. Just one drink." She coaxed. I tried to walk away from her but she just followed me. We finally came to a room at the end of a hall. A dead end. This girl was so annoying!
"Fine!" I said exasperated. She handed me the glass and I took a sip. She waited for me to finish the whole thing. Slowly I emptied the cup.
My legs felt like jelly right away. My arms went numb. I had a huge headache. "You look sick pretty boy. Might want to take a nap." The girl said. "Layla?" I whispered. My vision went blurry.
"Nope, better." The girl whispered.
She shoved me through the open door and I fell on the bed. She got on top of me. I tried to push her away but my arms were still numb. She smashed her mouth onto mine. I couldn't think straight. I heard the door open and someone scream in surprise. I looked up and saw a broken-hearted Layla. I called her name but she took off down the hallway. "I can explain!" I screamed. My vision instantly cleared and I could finally think. I pushed the girl off of me and ran after Layla. I searched the whole house.
"She's gone." I choked. I didn't want to talk to anyone right now. Not Jerome, not Adam, not anyone. I just sat on a chair in an empty room I thought was a closet.
Thirty minutes passed. I got up. I had to look for her one more time. Slowly I walked around the whole house.
I finally came to the balcony. I saw a flash of black streaked with brown. The door was open. "Layla." I whispered. I looked down. Would she forgive me? Would she be mad? I had to take the chance. I looked up and prepared to walk toward her.
I froze.
She was wrapped in Jason's arms and she was sobbing. He was coaxing her to be quiet. He pulled her closer and hugged her tighter. I felt jealous and sad at the same time. I saw him wipe away her tears. "You're beautiful, you're smart, you're funny, you're amazing. You're perfect. There's no need for you to cry." He whispered.
I almost choked.
I'm so sorry Layla! I wanted to yell.
Everything Jason said was true. I just wished it was me saying it and not him.
"Thank you, for everything." I heard Layla whisper. She pulled him into a hug. They had to have been talking about me! I took off down the hallway just as Layla spun around.
*FLASHBACK OVER*
Layla's P.O.V.
"Mitch?" I whispered suddenly confused. "Where?" Jason asked alarmed. "I thought I saw him." I said slowly walking through the open door. How long had he been there? "I have to go find him!" I said. I felt Jason grab my shoulder. "I'll help. We'll just see who finds him first." Jason said. I nodded. I ran down the hallway as fast as I possibly could. "Stupid wedges." I cursed. I looked everywhere.
