"Where you two bitches been?" Flip barked. Candy sat proudly at his side with a devilish grin on her face.

"We were out making money." Telay said matter-of-factly before Pepsi could answer.

"You bitches know what sup. I know you ain't believe that little shit you pulled earlier was going to stop me from telling my daddy about all that money." Candy said spitefully.

Telay looked at Pepsi, then Flip. "Candy, what the fuck are you talking about?" Telay played confused.

"Oh, now you're going to play dumb like you don't know what I'm talking about! You two bitches just left with eight racks of MY daddy's money." Candy screamed. "Our daddy takes good care of us. He deserves that money. You know we ain't supposed to hide nothing from him anyway." Candy attempted to stroke Flip's ego.

He watched the two go back and forth, trying to determine who was telling the truth. He placed his eyes on Telay, suggesting that she say something quickly.

Telay stared at Candy in disgust. She couldn't believe that Candy was stuck so far up Flip's ass that she even considered that money to be his. "Are you really that desperate to make up lies on me?" Telay stood to her feet. "On us?" Telay pointed her finger back and forth from Pepsi and herself. "All because your old ass is jealous? You just can't stand the fact that I'm taking your spot, huh?" She added spitefully.

Candy stuck her nose up in the air. "Look here you little bitch, you could never replace me." She shot back confidently.

Telay looked directly at Flip knowing she could convince him that Candy was making this all up. "Daddy, that's what this is about. I told her you picked me to be your new bottom hoe and now she's just trying to come up with anything to make you change your mind." Telay looked back at Candy. "Nice try Candy, but trick no good! I already proved my loyalty to my Daddy. Just face it. You're not good enough for the main hoe position." Telay said with an even bigger smile. She walked over to Flip and sat on his lap.

Silence swept over the room. Tears filled Candy's eyes as fear of losing her position to Telay started to surface. She stared at Flip, hoping he would say that Telay was making this up but he didn't.

Without warning, Flip slapped Telay. Her small body flew to the floor. She held in her cries from the pain as she looked at Flip wondering if he saw through all her lies. He stood over her, lifting her halfway off the ground by her shirt. "Bitch, I do the pimping in this bitch. Don't you think I'm capable of telling the bitch myself?" He screamed.

Relieved that he believed her, she lowered her head pretending to be ashamed. "I'm sorry Daddy. Thank you for correcting me."

Flip released her shirt. Her body dropped back onto the floor. Still mad, he grabbed Candy by the throat.

"She's lying!" Candy pleaded.

Flip ignored her. The way he saw it was if Candy saw that money, she should've never let it leave the house. "If you was doing what the fuck you supposed to be doing you wouldn't have to make up these lies. You wouldn't even be losing your position!" He was screaming directly into her face.

The tears that were filling her eyes had now begun to storm down her face. "Daddy! I'm not lying,"

WHACK!

Flip smacked her. Blood trickled from her nose. "Fuck is wrong with you, interrupting me and shit? You know the deal. I talk, you listen. Now, you think I'm gone believe that you let them walk out of this house with eight grand?" He waited for Candy to answer him. "Caramelay wouldn't do no shit like that. You want to know why? Cause I know shit that can get her put in jail for the rest of her life. You think she gone play with some shit like that?" He spoke firmly in a tone that let Telay know he was also threatening her. "What the fuck did you think this was going to accomplish?" He removed his hand from her throat. She fell to the floor, thirsty for air. "Answer me bitch?" He yelled, punching her repeatedly. "You gone learn not to play games about my money." He looked at Pepsi and Telay who were standing there watching him and became even more upset. "What you two bitches standing there for? If you'll don't want to be next, then you'll better go out and get me some more money." He threatened. Without hesitation, Pepsi and Telay quickly made their exit.

Later, that week:

Telay sat at a small table in a rundown restaurant, sipping on a cup of coffee and scanning through a Job and Homes newspaper. She was trying to come up with some ideas to get her and Pepsi away from Flip as soon as possible. Her attention was quickly stolen from the task at hand once she locked eyes with a man sitting on the opposite side of the diner. She found it odd that he was sitting at the table alone. He hadn't even ordered anything.

What is he doing? Telay thought as she tried to avoid his gaze. She felt a pinch of nervousness after watching him talk on his phone. He had been staring at her way before she even noticed him. She wanted to know why. Though her natural instincts told her to run away from him, she couldn't help but wonder why she was so drawn to him. She had never seen him before, yet she felt connected to him in the strangest way.

He looked young but mature and unmistakably paid. His skin was a flawless bronze and his hair was neatly cut low with deep waves. He was wearing a black and gray button up shirt with black Robin jeans and he sat his outfit off with an attractive Rolex on his arm. His smile displayed confidence, with a pinch of arrogance, but not enough to turn her off. His presence was without a doubt powerful. Almost intimidating. His eyes were dark and cold but nevertheless sexy. She couldn't stop staring at him.

Think Telay, you don't need no man. He will be nothing but more problems! She thought. She decided to break the 'Stare-off' that she had unintentionally entered with him.

Her attempts to brush him off made him smile at her with satisfaction. She smiled back nervously with a simple nod and quickly directed her attention back to her newspaper. Get up and leave bitch! Get up and leave, she told herself. Before she could act on the thought he had already gotten up and walked over to where she was sitting.

"What's your name?" He asked with a rare accent revealing that he was not from the city.

She looked up at his million-dollar smile and replied, "Caramelay!" She looked down at her paper, trying not to return the smile.

He offered his hand to her. "My name Taste. You're fucking gorgeous, girl!"

She looked into his eyes as she accepted what she thought was going to be a handshake.

When she gave him her hand, he raised it to his mouth and kissed it. "Damn, girl. You make a nigga want to get down on one knee already!" He joked flirtatiously, admiring the way her dark blue eyes complemented her caramel brown skin tone. "You looking for a job?" He asked looking down at the newspaper in Telay's hands. She chuckled embarrassingly. "I ain't trying to be nosey but I'm looking for some female workers. I mean, I ain't no pimp or nothing. I'm looking for maids to do some extra work around my house. I'll cash out two grand a week." He said seriously.

Telay looked at him suspiciously, secretly considering his proposal. "Maids, huh? I may be interested. Me and my girl are trying to get jobs so we can get us a place to stay. You know, make a living for ourselves." She explained.

He laughed at her as if she were joking. "A place to stay? You must not know who I am." He was obviously offended. He pulled out a wad of money and peeled off five one hundred dollar bills. "Take my number. Maybe we can go out to eat or something." He said placing the bills on her table.

Telay smiled. There was something in his voice that she was drawn to. She couldn't place a finger on it.

"A'ight ma, be safe out here!" He said sincerely, then without another word or waiting for a response he walked out of the diner.
