Sodapop's POV:

I watched as Dakota sneakily grabbed a Coke from the fridge. "Dakota, you better put that back before Darry finds out you have one." I smiled softly. She rolled her eyes and put it back and got out a bottle of tea. Darry found out how many Cokes that Dakota has been drinking and told her that she wasn't allowed but one Coke a week. It seems a little harsh, but she gets really hyper and wild when she drinks one.

Darry has been putting a lot of boundaries on us lately. First off, we're not allowed to cuss in front of her anymore. Well, actually we have to watch our cussing. One day Dally, Two-Bit, Steve, and I were joking about 'fucking' girls and Dakota over heard us and said it in front of Darry. He then had a meeting with us. Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve aren't allowed to steal stuff in front of her anymore..... let's just say she brought it up and Darry over heard her.

Dakota still has her loose tooth. She wants it to come out, but she won't let any of us pull it. Julie got closer than any of us did. She got Dakota's permission to pull it out. She almost got it, but Dakota stopped her and told her that if she did it again, they wouldn't be friends. Only Dakota.

Dakota's POV:

I went up to my room and closed the door. I grabbed a few boxes that held my books out from under the bed. I pushed them to my closet door and stacked them. I climbed up one and started to climb on the other until I started to wobble. I held on to the doorway of the closest and kept myself steady. I climbed up to the top and grabbed my big bag of old toys I never played with. I threw that on my bed and carefully climbed down. I put my boxes back under my bed and went through my bag.

Darry said that if we give away some things that we didn't want anymore, we could take it to this place where they sell them and we get money for it. We need money for Christmas, so we can buy presents. We can't buy much though. All I want is a few more horse stuffed animals, maybe a few more Mickey Mouse stuffed animals, and I want my tooth to come out. Everyone is wanting to pull it out, but I don't want then to. It'll hurt.

Ponyboy's POV:

Everyone sat around the living room asking Dakota what the story of Santa Claus was. Everyone laughed, snickered, or chuckled at everything thing she had to say. I cracked a smile every so often. And then Steve had to bring up the worst subject. "Why won't you let any of us pull that tooth out?" We all groaned. Not this again. She already told us that she was scared to let anyone pull it out. "Because I'm scared." Dakota replied. "It's not gonna hurt that bad." Dally said making the conversation even worse. Darry looked at us and gave us the 'cut the conversation' motion with his hand. They nodded and tried to bring up another subject.

I laid in my bed thinking about Christmas and what I was planning to get everyone with the money that I have saved up, until I heard crying coming from Dakota's room. She already cries in her sleep, but she sounded awake. I walked slowly cracked open the door so I could see her. She sat at the edge of her bed sniffling and cuddling her Mickey. I opened the door all the way and sat on her bed. I put my arms around her. "You okay?" I asked. "I wanna buy Christmas presents for everyone, but I have no money!" She cried. I tried not to laugh at her comment. Dakota is very sweet, but this was kinda a stupid thing to be crying about......well, to a 14 year old. She climbed into my lap and hugged my neck. I held her for a minute or two until she asked if she could sleep with me. I nodded and took her to my room and laid her on my bed. "I'll be right back." I said as I left the room.

I went downstairs and found Sodapop sitting on the couch with the rest of the gang. I walked over and sat next to him. "Soda, Dakota was crying in her room and asked if she could sleep with me. Are you okay to sleep on the couch?" I asked. He nodded, but he had the same facial expression that the rest of the gang had. Worried. "Yeah, is she okay?" Soda asked. I nodded. "She's fine."
"Are you sure?" Johnny asked. "She rarely cries." I nodded again. "She's okay."
"If you need any of us to help, we will." Darry said. "Okay, night." I said going back upstairs.

I walked in my room and found Dakota half asleep, clutching her Mickey with her thumb in her mouth. I smiled slightly and laid down next to her. I wrapped my arms around her torso and smiled a little more. She is pretty annoying, but I do love her.
