Normal POV:
Dakota seemed a bit more into trouble making rather than being her sweet usual self. She mouthed off to Darry one morning when he told her to clean her room. Darry shocked to say the truth. It was like a mini Ponyboy. It shocked Soda that Dakota would always argue with her brothers nowadays. Not that she wouldn't argue in the past, but now she argues about everything.
Darry would call "Bath time!" Dakota would reply "No! Why? It's too early!"
Ponyboy's POV:
"Pony." I heard. I turned around at my desk to face Darry who was at my door.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"You wanna tell me why your clothes are still on the counter?" Darry's asked.
"I told Dakota to give them to him, Darry." Soda said coming into the room. "She said he should go get the clothes himself. I assumed she was going to tell Pony they were there."
"Well she didn't." I said.
"What are we going to do with her?" Darry asked. "She's been a lot more sassy lately and she's been arguing over everything. She's getting a bit too big for her britches."
"You know what dad would've done if we mouthed off to him." Soda said sitting down on the bed. "Our butts would be a light shade of pink."
Darry sighed. "I'm thinking I might have to go that route."
My heart sank. Although I felt Dakota deserved some sort of discipline, I didn't think she needed to be spanked. "You're gonna spank her, Dar?"
"We were spanked whenever we acted like that and we turned out just fine." Darry said. "We can't have another Dally."
"You think she's acting like this because of Dally?" Soda asked.
"No. You know if she acted like this to Dally, he wouldn't have any problems telling us." Darry said. "Where is Dakota anyways?"
"She's playing down at the lot with Julie." I said.Normal POV:
"Dakota, we shouldn't be over here." Julie cringed as her arm crossed over a spiderweb.
"Why you say that?" Dakota asked jumping off a log.
"Well one, we're far away from the lot. I'm not even sure if we're in our own town anymore. Two, we could get into big trouble."
"You worry too much. And we are too still in our own town."
"Where are we even going?"
"Just a few more steps and we'll be there."Julie groaned, but continued to follow Dakota.
"We're here!" Dakota cheered as they came out of the woods.
Julie's mouth fell wide open when she saw where they were. "Why are we at Buck's?"
"This is where the older kids hang out." Dakota simply said.
"I've never been here before. This is so cool!"
"Wanna go in?"
"How do we get in?" Julie asked. "We can't just go to the front door."
"Julie, there's a back door." Dakota said pointing to the back door and starting to walk to it.Both girls walked into the already smokey building. Dakota started to cough due to all the cigarette smoke. Julie smiled when someone handed her a cup. She took a sip of the drink and immediately spit it out.
"Here." Julie said giving the cup to Dakota. "Drink this."
Dakota took a sip and spit it out just like Julie. "That's gross!"
"I know! It's a drink older kids drink!"
"Why would they drink something that's gross? What happened to lemonade?"
"That's a little kid drink. I mean it looks like lemonade."
"It looks like pee. Oh my God! What if we just drank pee?!"
"They wouldn't drink pee, Dakota. Two-bit drinks this all the time."The more time the girls spent at Buck's, the more greasers started to recognize them both. Especially Dakota. It just so happens that Steve and Dallas were at this very party. The girl's didn't know that, but their luck ran out.
One of the greasers went up to Steve after he saw Dakota.
"Hey man, isn't that Sodapop's little sister?" He asked Steve.
Steve laughed. "Dude how are you that drunk? You think you see a six year old at a party?"
"And a nine year old." The greaser said.
