Dakota's POV:

Two-Bit picked me and Julie up from school and brought us to my house. I went up to my room to put my jacket and shoes away. Julie came up with me. She sat on my bed while I put my shoes in my closet. "Hey Dakota, where's your Mickey Mouse blanket?" She asked. I turned around. "It's on my toy box." I said pointing to it. I gasped. It wasn't there! My Mickey Mouse blanket was my baby blanket. I only had it out because I use it when I have nightmares and when it storms. "It's not there!" I said about to cry. "I left it there!"
Julie got off my bed and came over to me. She hugged me. "It's okay." I started crying. "You'll find it."
"I left it there though." I said crying harder.

Julie's POV:

I hugged Dakota some more. She cried into my chest. "It'll be okay." I said. Two-Bit came into the room. "Hey Dakota what's with the waterworks?" He asked crouching down. "Her Mickey Mouse blanket is lost." I said. Two-Bit turned Dakota around to face him. She was still crying. "Aw, we'll find it." He said hugging her.

We spent 10 minutes looking for it and we couldn't find it. "What if I have a nightmare and there's a storm tonight? I'll never sleep again." Dakota said looking down. Two-Bit smiled sympathetically.

When Darry, Johnny, Steve, Soda, and Ponyboy came home they heard about the story and helped us look for it.

Dakota's POV:

I checked in my room again. It wasn't there. I started to go downstairs. Ponyboy stopped me. "Hey Dakota." I looked at him. He handed me my Mickey Mouse blanket! I gasped then I realized he took it. "That's why you don't take things from others." He said. "That was mean." I said crossing my arms.
"It was also mean that you took something out if my room."
"It wasn't yours."
"Doesn't matter." I glared at him and went back downstairs. I told everyone that it was in the hall closet. They all seemed pretty relieved. I could've told Darry about Ponyboy, but I had a lot more in store for him.

The next day, I took Ponyboy's jacket and got it a little wet. "Very funny Dakota." He said walking out. I smiled. Later on that day, he took my already dirty converses and made them even more muddy. They were just fine until he got ahold of them.

I took Ponyboy's hair grease and squeezed it out in sink the next day. "DAKOTA LIZA!!!!" He yelled. I smiled knowing that I got him. He then took my stuffed animals and threw them out the window. "PONYBOY MICHAEL!!!" I yelled.

After a few more days of being mean, we decided that we weren't talking to each other anymore. We exchanged dirty looks every once in awhile.

Darry's POV:

I watched as Ponyboy stormed into the room. "You okay?" I asked. "I'm fine." He said going out to the front porch. I then heard Dakota stomp down the stairs. "You alright?" I asked her. "I'm fine." She said going out to the back porch. Soda then came downstairs and went into the kitchen. "Are you in a good mood?" I asked. "Yeah, why?" He asked sitting down on the couch with a bag of chips. I rolled my eyes. "What?" Soda asked. "You couldn't have gotten a bowl?" Soda rolled his eyes and got up once more. "Okay, now why did you ask that I was in a bad mood?"
"Well, Dakota and Ponyboy just stormed in here and they looked mad."
"Yeah, I don't think that they're talking to each other right now." "Again?" They've done this before. Dakota would do something that Ponyboy didn't like and he'd do something and it would just go back and forth. "You know, they're gonna have to work this out themselves."

Dakota's POV:

Dally still isn't here and Ponyboy and I are still fighting. The good news is that I still see Mommy! Daddy is here too! They sit and watch TV, Mommy hangs out in the kitchen, and Daddy is always making funny faces like he use to. I always have to act like I don't see them, until I get to my room. Mommy always folds my clothes. I'll unfold them and she'll fold them back. Daddy is always in the mirror. When I talk to him he'll always say that I'm beautiful and that he couldn't wish for a better little girl.

I went to bed one night and I talked to Mommy and Daddy. I told them that Dally was in jail. "That old Dally." Mommy said shaking her head. Daddy sighed. "He'll be out soon. He couldn't stay away from his friends too long."
"We've also been watching you and Ponyboy." Mommy said. "You guys are fighting, huh?" I nodded.
"Well, I'm not saying what you did is wrong, but maybe you should try to talk things out." Daddy said. "Pony, he can be stubborn, but you could at least try."
"What if it doesn't work?" I asked.
"Well, then Darry or Sodapop will take care of it." Mommy said rubbing my back. I nodded. "Alright Dakota, it's late. You should be asleep."
I laid down. "Okay."
"Goodnight Dakota." Mommy and Daddy both said. "We love you."

Soda's POV:

I watched Ponyboy and Dakota fight for a week. Dakota seemed like she wanted to make up, but Pony wasn't having it. Since he wouldn't make up with her, she decided to annoy him a little more.

She snuck in our room when he wasn't in there, she wouldn't put her laundry in the laundry room, so he had to go up to her room and get it. She also ate the last bit of chocolate cake that Pony said that he wanted. Those little things that pisses him off, led him to do some things to her.

He would kick her out of our room and lock the door, he would set an alarm clock in her room and make it go off early in the morning, he would also drink all of the chocolate milk.

Today, I decided that I had enough of it. I called Ponyboy into our room. I went into Dakota's room and told her to come with me. She looked freaked out, but she followed me. "Get up on the bed." I said to her pointing right next to Ponyboy. She hesitated, but got on the bed.

"Okay, you 2 have been fighting for awhile. Would you like to explain how it got started?" I asked. "She went in our room without our permission." Ponyboy said crossing his arms. I looked at Dakota. "I was getting one of your books and I went back in my room." She said as her voice cracked.
"Well, you did go in without our permission-" I started.
"I was coming back out!" Dakota said defensively.
"You took something that wasn't yours." Ponyboy butted in.
"He doesn't even read it and you took my blanket." Dakota replied. "Wait, you took her blanket?" I asked.
Ponyboy nodded. "She took something that wasn't hers so I took something that wasn't mine."
"Well, it's not your place to discipline her." I said.
"You and Darry don't do anything!"
"Yeah, because she does nothing wrong!"
"Does nothing wrong? She goes into our room without our permission, she takes things that isn't hers, and she just doesn't listen period!"
"You just don't like me! You're so mean to me!" Dakota said putting her knees up. She hid her face in her arms while they were propped up by her knees. She started crying.

Ponyboy and I stopped. "Dakota, you're not in trouble." I said. "Was it wrong that you went into our room without our permission? Yes. Did Pony over react? Yes-"
"I don't care. I just want him to like me." She said through hiccups.
"Dakota, I do like you." Ponyboy said.
"No you don't. You never want me in your room or anything."
"That doesn't mean I don't like you."

After a few minutes of standing there, trying to think of a solution, Dakota wrapped her arms around Pony's arm. I then got the idea. "Dakota, do you love Pony?" I asked. Dakota nodded. "Yes." She said still crying. Ponyboy smiled and pulled her a bit closer.
"Okay, then what do you want him to do?"
"I wanna spend more time with him." She said still hiccuping.
"Okay, Dakota, I need you to clam down before you give yourself an asthma attack." She wiped her eyes and calmed down a little. "Okay Ponyboy, would you be willing to spend some time with her after school? Like, after you do your homework."
Ponyboy looked at Dakota and nodded. "Yes."
"You hear that Dakota? Y'all will be spending more time together." She smiled a little bit. "Now, I want you 2 to hug it out."
Dakota was already hugging Ponyboy's chest. He chuckled while he sat up. He untangled her arms from his chest and put the up to his shoulders. Dakota wrapped her arms around his neck. I smiled and hugged them both.

Ponyboy's POV:

As soon as Soda left, Dakota looked up at me. "I'm sorry I went into your room without remission." I chuckled at her mispronouncing permission. "I'm sorry about getting your jacket wet, I'm sorry I squeezed out all the grease, I'm sorry for everything."
"I forgive you. I'm sorry for stealing your blanket, for throwing out all your stuffed animals, drinking all your chocolate milk, and everything as well." I said.
"I forgive you too." She smiled.
I smiled back. I then laid back down. Dakota laid down with me.
