song to listen to while reading this chapter: Idle by Spooky Black.
a/n: i'm changing a bit of detail in this chapter, their apartment is going to have a small front facing balcony

tyler woke up to the sound of cars slowly driving by on the road below them. the sunlight sept through the white curtains and illuminated the baby blue walls, the white comforter, and the glass coffee table on the other side of the room. the soft sounds of downtown calmed tyler as he ran his hand over his soft head. the white sunlight brought the features out of his face; his long eyelashes left curled shadows on his cheeks, amongst the small freckles that danced on his naturally tanned skin that shone with the sun.

tyler moved himself into his wheelchair, and pulled the large white curtains aside. he heaved open the sliding door to the balcony and wheeled himself onto the concrete floor.

he watched the city below him, the pedestrians walking on the sidewalks. he watched the dog walkers, the parents with their children, the wives with their husbands, the teenagers with their friends. he watched people live their daily lives in happiness, nothing you ever found in detroit.

tyler liked his life in buffalo with his blue apartment and his blue haired boyfriend. he liked his life in buffalo with blue skies and his blue sweater. he likes his life with heavy brown doors and his boyfriends brown eyes. he loved his boyfriend, and he loved his city.

he even loved himself, for the first time.

-----------

josh woke up to the sound of tyler's wheelchair moving onto the concrete surface of the balcony. he watched his face in the spring sun, enjoying the soft breeze and the warm light. josh rolled out of the bed and slowly walked to the open sliding door. tyler looked up at him and smiled as josh dropped his hand on his shoulder.

josh thought about his life with heavy brown doors and his brown headed boyfriend. he thought about the brown chocolate shop down the road and tyler's chocolate eyes. he thought about tyler's blue sweater and their blue apartment. josh loved his boyfriend and he loved his city.

they watched the city together, moving slowly on a slow sunday evening. they loved their city and they loved each other, and they would until the end.
