*Aurora's POV*

After my family came back home, they went on with life like nothing even happened. I guess they really were brainwashed. I woke up the next day at about seven in the morning, feeling cranky and hungry. I know that most of the time, I'm as salty as brine, but this time around, it's something different. I ate breakfast, but I as still hungry. Is this a vampire thing?

Whatever this is, it's getting me in trouble. I almost got myself grounded (even though I'm seventeen going on eighteen). I decided to go for a walk, and calm myself down. Maybe I'll return my library books.

I said bye to my mom, who-surprisingly- is actually home for the day. My dad had to go in to work. I strolled casually, finally feeling some kind of calmness overcome me. The bookshop was open, but someone else was working. I've never seen this girl before, and I've been coming to this shop for years. Book boy usually works here on Fridays. I went up to the new worker.

"Do you know what happened to the guy who used to work here?" I inquired as I pushed the books towards her.

"Rumor has it, he quit, just like that." She dished, "I just happened to apply for a job at the perfect time."

Oh. That's odd, but I'm not going to think about it too much. Why would he quit though?

Meh.

After I checked out two more books, I went straight home. My walk was quite eventful.

About half way there, my heart started to pound in my chest, and my lungs felt tight. I felt hungry- hungry for something other than food. I could feel the heat radiating off my skin as I chased a squirrel into the bushes. I needed this- it's what I craved. Under other circumstances, I'd think sucking a squirrel dry was nasty. The blood made me feel a lot better, and my head cleared up.

After my invigorating chase-and-capture run with my lunch, I cleaned myself up (not without a couple of weird looks), and walked back home. I guess I'm going to get used to this. The metallic taste of blood doesn't make me want to vomit my intestines out, but other questions flooded my mind.

What if I attack a human? What if I attack my family?

When I was chasing that poor squirrel, I couldn't control myself.

Maybe if I fed regularly, this wouldn't happen. I'd have to keep hunting like this, but what if someone sees me.

Being a vampire is so hard...

Wait a minute!

Now that I'm a vampire, do I still get my period?

Anyways, I'll call Zayn over, and ask him what to do. He would know.

When I arrived home, my mom was napping, and so as George. They looked so peaceful, and happy. I took a quick picture, and went up to my room to call Zayn.

A- Hey, Zayn!

Z- Did you get yourself in trouble yet?

A- You know me so well.

Z- Are you serious?! You got yourself in trouble already?

A- I kid! I kid! I just have a few questions about.......yeah. When can you come over?

Z- How about tonight?

A- See you there.

Z- Bye.

That was a pretty basic conversation. I have a long list of questions for him. Until then, I'll visit my best friend. I hope she's not occupied. I sped to her house. That was the first time I used my super speed, and it was amazing.

Apparently, she, her parents, and a couple of friends were having a barbecue. She didn't invite me, so maybe I should just go home. Before I could even turn around, she spotted me, and pulled me into her yard. I guess I'll have to stay.

"Thank God, you're here."

But I wasn't invited. I gave her a weird look, but she completely disregarded my confusion, and continued with her babbling.

"You see that guy over there?" She turned my chin to the right. I nodded. He's kinda hot.

I more than saw him- In my head, I already married him three times...

"Go talk to him." She whispered.

"Why can't you talk to him? Isn't this your barbecue?"

She's good with people, especially at social events.

"Aurora, I have a boyfriend. That guy (his name is Owen) is a flirt. You know how I am with people like that." She begged.

I remember when a guy asked her out. Although she had a boyfriend, she said yes, because 'he was a nice guy' and she 'didn't want to let him down'.

She is such a softy.

"Okay, fine. But if I end up going on a date with him, it's your fault."

"You wouldn't mind."

I would.

I waltzed over to him reluctantly.

"Hi, I'm Aurora." I introduced myself confidently.

"I'm Owen." He sent me a smile, which I sent back coolly.

I knew that.

"I've heard a lot about you. You're Kayla's best friend, right?"

"Yeah. I hope you've heard good things."

"You sounded perfect to me." He gushed.

Okay then... Now I see what Kayla was talking about. I laughed nervously.

How do I respond to that?

I was about to leave.

"What's that smell?"

And it was at that exact moment, his eyes flashed red.

He looked down at my shirt, his lips parted.

Maybe I didn't clean myself up properly, and maybe, just maybe, Owen's a vampire.
