Chapter 9

Chapter 9, His Modern New World

"Please forgive me." The man pleaded.

"You pervert! I got you this time. I swear I'm gonna f*cking kill you!" He, then, cuffed the man's wrists. He grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him along.

Sungjae looked at me and asked, "Miss, are you alright?"

A sob escaped my lips as I nodded. Sungjae's eyes softened. "Come with me." He said and turned his back, still dragging the man.

I took a deep breath and composed myself back together. My knees felt weak as I took a step forward, but I went on.

He came back for me.

A small smile curved my lips as if nothing bad just happened to me.

The police station isn't as crowded as it was earlier when we arrived there. Sungjae questioned the pervert man and put him in the jail. After that, he asked me to give a statement.

"I had nowhere to go to... so I was just walking around and I didn't realize the street was too isolated. When I turned around to go back to where I came from, he was there."

He let out a sigh. "Go on."

I told him how the man grabbed my arm and the things he said. Once Sungjae was satisfied with the testimony, he shut down a mid-sized rectangular flat thing and told me to follow him.

"Get in the car." He said.

I got in and once we're inside, he told me: "I'll let you stay in my place for tonight because it's dangerous for someone like you to be out in the dark of the night."

My heart jumped in joy. "Thank you."

I stole glances at Sungjae while he drove the car to his place.

"What? Why do you keep looking?" He asked.

I shook my head. "You seem familiar."

He shrugged. "Heol, I'm sure we haven't met before if you're wondering about that."

I kept quiet and tried not to look at him again.

Sungjae parked the car in front of a huge building. It was a beautiful place. There are so many lights, plants and trees. When we got out of the car, someone else drove it somewhere.

I looked up and read the words that illuminated the place even brighter.

Il Paradiso Hotel

"Is this where you live?" I asked.

"Keep it a secret. Do you understand?"

I nodded without asking why. I will ask him later once he's comfortable enough with me.

I followed him inside and I was amazed by how huge the place is. It is so spacious. I wondered if we need a car again to reach the actual entrance.
