I decided not to tell Mike about the texts. Our dad may have put a damper on my night, but this is the happiest I've seen Mike in the longest time. He doesn't need it.
After countless Polaroid pictures and laughs we decided to head home. Somehow we passed by so many hours that the sun is starting to rise, and we're halfway home. To avoid an encounter with my dad I quickly texted him when were minutes away from my driveway to see if he was home.
He responded, "Yes, darling and I made breakfast for you and Mike. Be home soon xxx."
I was extremely flustered with the content of the message. I asked Zayn(who was currently sitting in the front with Mike) to trade me spots. He must've saw that it was urgent because he opened the back window and I gave him space to crawl out then I took his place in the passenger seat.
"Are you okay Morgan?" Mike asked nervously.
"Read this text!" I demanded, lunging the phone towards him.
His eyes grew wide, "This hasn't happened before?"
"I know I'm so confused. Is it like a trap of some sort. You know so we think he has changed then makes things ten times worse?!" I stammered.
"I honestly don't know...I guess we will find out." Mike shrugged with a scared look on his face as we pulled into the driveway.
I bit my lip with nervousness. What the heck is going to happen once we walk through that door? Has dad really changed? Is he done abusing Mike and I?
I became prepared for the worst and hobbled to the door with Mike while everyone else was trying to get the energy to leave the back of the truck. We slowly turned to door knob and unlatched the screen behind it, peering to the side to see dad. He was in the kitchen. Staring at us with a stiff stance almost as if it was a cardboard cut-out. I couldn't make out the expression on his face. Was it loving or terrifying?
"What took you guys so long!?"
