The Next Day

I was so happy when I got home that night. As soon as I got home, I ran upstairs and locked myself in my room. I had to ponder the events that took place at first high school dance ever.

"So I probably coast my best fried her other friends, I made a fool of myself in front of those friends, and I danced with a guy that I know nothing about except that he can't dance alone. Yeah that's not weird at all, my life is perfectly normal! Nothing to see here folks!"

I might have been overreacting, I mean everything has been really calm before that night. After reassuring myself I was sane, I decided to go to bed. I actually slept through the whole night....and my alarm. Terrific.

When I looked at the clock I sprang out of bed and darted to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth for about five seconds and just took the bottle of mouth wash with me. I ran back to my room and stuffed the mouth wash in my bag before throwing on whatever cloths I could find. I winded up wearing a bright pink shirt, white pants and gray shoes. I grabbed my bag and darted out the house and made my way to the school. "I'm never going to another school dance in my life! I got way too happy!" I thought to myself, which I technically did. I may not have perfect grades but I'm super punctual. This was just pathetic for me! I looked around the front of the school and was surprised when....no one was there. I narrowed my eyes at the emptiness of the school. "What......Whats even going on?" I muttered to myself. I wanted to look at my phone to see what the time was, but I left it home. So I looked around for someone to tell my the time. I was about to give up when I heard someone behind me.

"You do know it's Saturday, right?"

The world proceeded to stand still and crumble around me. The same voice from last night. I was scared to turn around, afraid those same eyes would pierce through my soul once again. Nonetheless, I slowly turned around to face the person, nervously. And there he was, the random "can't dance alone" guy. I had no idea what to say or do. I just stood there like an idiot. He looked at me like I was one too. Before I fainted I realized what he said, "Wait....what do you mean it's Saturday?" I asked him shocked. He nodded, "Yeah, it's Saturday." he says with a confused look on his face. My heart dropped. "You mean I panicked out of bed, didn't fully brush my teeth, didn't even brush my hair, stuffed a whole bottle of mouth wash in my bag and ran out the house without a jacket.....on a Saturday?!" I yelled, angry. He looked at me like I could make an idiot look like Einstein and nodded slowly. I face palmed and looked at him. Now that I thought about it, I knew nothing about him. I just danced with him and that was it. So since I had nothing better to do I asked, "What's your name?" His eyes widened, as if he didn't expect me to ask his name. I guess it was out of the blue but when you think about it I had every right to.  He didn't even tell me.

He cleared his throat and spoke, "Derick. Derick Edwards." he said. I smiled, despite my bad mood. Derick narrowed his eyes at me, "Why are you so happy?" I rolled my eyes and walked over to him. I held out my hand for him to shake, "Ruby. Ruby Simpson." He looked at me and then my hand hesitantly shook my hand. "Nice to meet you." he said coldly. "Wonder what's wrong with him?" I thought as I let go of his hand. He turned around and went to go into the building, "Well....bye." I frowned and grabbed his wrist, "Wait, why are you here?" Derick turns around and pulls his wrist away from me aggressively. "Okay first off, don't touch me unless I say you can. Second, I have my own business here so mind yours." he said turning back around and going for the front door. Little did this asshole know, I'm very stubborn.  Once the door was opened and he was inside I slipped in and waited for him to realize what happened. He turned around and stared at me. "The hell are you doing?" he said coldly. I shrugged, "I dunno, what are you doing?"I said smugly. After realizing what I said I became terrified. "Shit. He's gonna kill me isn't he?????" I thought to myself. Derick rolled his eyes and started walking. I followed him, out of morbid curiosity.
