Suspicions Arising

January 1991

-A few days later-

Dre POV

"Alright yeah that was dope!" I said to D.O.C. as he just finished his Jamaican part to our new song we recorded for the album. Alwayz Into Somethin'  was the name we called the song, written by D.O.C., Ren and T.A. Speaking of T.A, strange things have been happening after I saw him with Suge at the red truck outside the club, where I got drunk and almost assaulted Dee Barnes.

Regret and guilt instantly filled my body. I feel like a fucking idiot for almost laying my hands on a woman. I'll admit when I'm drunk I tend to spiral out of control and let's just say with the last relationship I had, I really fucked up putting my hands on my ex. But that night when I almost did it to Dee, T.A just came out of nowhere and restrained me. Held me back and actually spoke some sense to me. I wonder what Jade would've thought about this. She'd probably never want to be with me again and leave me. But I can't leave her. I love her and I need her. She's my rock, my world and even since things with N.W.A are beginning to drift apart slowly, she's been there for me. 

I snapped out of my trance when I saw Jade walk into the studio room. She's kinda been distressed lately and right now with what I did, I don't think I'd want to pile more pressure on her already.

Jade went to the couch and sat down not giving me eye contact. I started to get worried. "Jade? Baby girl what's wrong? What happened?" I asked moving towards her and sitting next to her on the couch. I saw her brown beautiful eyes sparkle directly into my gaze. She pushed some strands of her wavy hair to the side. Fuck I've never been so lucky to call her mine, she's so beautiful.

I opened my arms out wide offering her for a cuddle and she gladly accepted, before moving over and snuggling herself in my chest. I could feel her body warmth radiate with mine as I wrapped my arms gently around her tiny, yet curvy frame. 

"Come one baby. Tell me what's the matter?" I whispered to her and she looked up directly at me. Then I saw her eyes water slightly but she blinked back upcoming tears and took a deep breath before she got herself together again and spoke. 

"I actually don't know what's going on Dre. Everything is just seeming so crazy, so hectic right now. I mean you guys are still at the top of the game, but Jerry's pushing you for a stadium tour. I just don't want you overworking yourself."

I chuckled lightly before kissing her forehead. "Look baby. I will always, and I mean always have you to stop me from overworking myself. Believe me and besides things financially is getting a little strange anyway." I said and it was true. Things were starting to become financially difficult at Ruthless. I wasn't getting paid as much as Eazy, and we had already sold over two million copies of our debut album. Plus our little E.P went gold but I feel that me and the guys were getting a little less appreciated by the financial aspect of things. 

Jade smiled before she spoke. "Baby, I'm sure my brother's just being a little lazy with the payments, you know how he is. Plus rumors are a bitch. It's not him who pays y'all though it's Jerry's job, and even if Eric was slacking I'd whoop his ass and make sure he gets his shit straight." I laughed and she gave a little giggle before she hugged me tightly giving a little peck on my lips. We stared at each other smiling like idiots before D.O.C. walked in.

"Oh look it's the black version of Romeo and Juliet." D.O.C chirped in. Jade covered her face in my hoodie.  "Don't listen to him baby girl!" I laughed along with D.O.C. 

"What's up anyway man? How's it been the last couple days? You must be exhausted especially after that party" he said. 

"To be honest nigga, very hectic. That party was something else." I said before I looked at Jade.

"Nigga you better have been on your best behavior at that music industry party. Otherwise I'ma have to do Bruce Lee on yo' ass." she threatened jokingly and D.O.C. laughed before he spoke. 

"Girl he was just having a good time. No hoes came onto him and vice versa it was all good." 

Yeah, if only they both knew I was drunk outta my fucking mind and almost assaulted Dee Barnes, then having being stopped and saved by T.A whom no one has seen in ages, from doing so. 

I sighed heavily before looking at the platinum plaques on the studio walls. "The guys not here today?" Jade said and I shook my head. "Nah they at Eric's place helping him and his girl redecorating."

Jade laughed. "That nigga Eric redecorating with Ren and Yella. Man I'd  pay to see Eric just to figure out how to open a tub of paint and use a paint brush."

I smiled before I spoke. "Your album still platinum huh D.O.C.?" I gestured and he laughed. "Yeah man like I said No One Can Do It Better than yours truly, and just to stand corrected it's multi platinum now." Jade then gestured to the next platinum plaque. "Not as better as that one over there Doc?" Me and D.O.C looked over and I saw the platinum plaque. T.A's platinum plaque.

"Yeah well it can never be better than that one. T.A definitely did his thing on it." D.O.C said and to be honest there was a hint of truth coming out from his mouth.  D.O.C. then spoke again. "Speaking of T.A where is the guy these days. I rarely see him and even when I see him, he's either with Suge or he's writing some songs and then goes out of the studio immediately."

I was about to speak when I then heard the studio door open. I saw Suge walk in with his cigar in his mouth puffing away like no tomorrow. I looked at Jade and a look of fear spread across her face.

"Sup y'all how's it going?" he spoke as he sat down on the chair.  "All good Suge you?" D.O.C said before Suge looked towards Jade. Then he looked at me. "Yo Dre tell your girl not be so shook man I ain't gonna hurt no one here." Suge chuckled before taking a toke of his cigar. Jade suddenly got out from my grip and sat upright causing me to frown. 

"Where's T.A?" she suddenly spoke up. I looked at D.O.C. who looked back at me with the same expression. Suge just smiled. "T.A's just doing fine, he's currently handling some business right now. Plus he's chilling so it's all good." 

I saw Jade's body language change and it looked like she was gonna snap any minute now so I quickly interjected before she could say anything. "Look baby, even Suge said T.A is alright, look just because he's been busy doesn't mean he ain't mad at you right? He just maybe seeing his family that's all." I said. 

"Besides." Suge spoke in a calm tone. "Whatever happens between me and T.A stays between us. We're usually close like that." I saw Jade ball up her fists leading to Suge noticing this. "Control your girl Dre. I don;t like it when things get aggressive. Especially with women." he said and gave a little smirk at me. D.O.C. quickly caught on and pulled Jade back down to the couch next to me and I just wrapped my arms around her. 

"Anyways." Suge stood up before making his way towards the door. "I got to meet T.A and discuss more business. It's pretty self explanatory but we got to meet someone very important, so as much as I'd love to stay and chat, I got to make moves." Before Suge could go I quickly remembered the incident where Suge and T.A were taking and when T.A said something about making moves. 

"Wait! Suge!" I said and Suge stopped. "What did T.A mean when he said 'he had to make his own path, his own journey?'" I saw Suge's facial expression change to something I was quite surprised to see. Worry. 

"Wait Dre what are you talking about? What did T.A do?" Jade said but before I could answer Suge spoke. 

"That's for me to know and for you not to find out. So keep your nose out of other niggas business otherwise wee gon' have a problem nigga" Suge said and walked out of the door.
