"I had a reservation, under the name of , Jake Wells." Jake said to the receptionist as she showed us to our seats.
Wow. This place is surely as expensive as Gucci. And the aura is .. very romantic?
Jake went to grab the chair and offered me the seat. Such a gentleman.
"So, uhm. This place, is just, u-uhm.. wow," I stuttered.
"Glad you like it, it's one of my favorite places in the city."
"I bet this is where you bring your girlfriend?", I smirked. Touché move, Lara.
"Girlfriend? Oh please, I don't have one.". He smiled. Damn, that smile could literally light up the whole town.
"How come?" I asked - with desire.
"I don't know. I'm not totally over with Jean. I-I know, it's been years and years since our relationship ended, but I'm still caught up with her. Haven't seen her ever since, yet even if I'm just imagining her that she's right in front of me, I'm still so whipped," He ranted. Wow. So this is practically, NOT A DATE. At least I know now.
The food arrived. And it tastes as good as heaven.
"So, how are you, Lara?". He asked, breaking the silence.
"I'm doing great. Except for the fact that I'm still working in that coffee shop for so long." I sighed.
"Why don't you try to find a new job?"
"I will. But I want to save up first, just for a back-up. In fact, I want to move to New York. I think job is a lot possible in there."
"I see. So uhm,"
"What?" I asked.
"Do you have a boyfriend? Or dating someone?". I was kind of taken aback by his question. As if he cares.
"No, I don't have one." I faked a smile, trying to keep it cool.
The night went on sharing about each other's stories. I'm quite comfortable around him. I miss him. I miss seeing him around at school corridors. I miss our deep talks. I miss him, for being my friend.
We we're in the midst of our conversation when I saw a familiar shadow. Harry. What is he doing in here?
Oh shit. He saw us. He's coming right towards us. Can this day get any worse?
"Hi, Lara,". He smirked
"Hello. If you can see, I'm kind of in the middle of something, so if you're just planning to annoy me, not tonight. Please?" I said, using the puppy eyes technique.
"Lara, look, I'm here for a job interview. They're actually looking for a new branch manager. Isn't it amazing?" He cheered. My cheeks are turning into tomatoes, I feel so ashamed of what I just said to Harry. Now, I look like this rude town girl.
"O-oh, go-good luck, then," I'm shaking.
"Thank you. Have fun you two. Just remember ... use protection." He winked.
Ughhhhh. I knew it. He always ends up irritating me. I hate him. So much.
We continued our night like Harry never happened.
"I got to go. Ali might be missing me already." I teased.
"I'm actually getting confused already if she's your roommate or your second mother?" He laughed. There it goes again, his smile. God. Help. Me.
"I'll take you home, m'lady.". Him saying "m'lady" made me shivered with chills.
The ride on our way home was fun. We jammed and sang along with the songs on the radio. Carpool karaoke, it is. I knew this dinner can make this day have a good and nice ending.
"Here's my stop, thank you for tonight, Mister," I smiled.
"Thank you too, m'lady. Hang out soon, yeah?"
"Course, take care.".
Before I even realize what's happening, he kissed me.
